OK guys thanks for the recommendation. Like I mentioned, I have no poblem paying $10 for it if it's legit. I just didn't want to give some hack $10 because he was taking a free program, bumping the version number without changing anything and selling it. I'll probably buy it and install it tonight.

Any recommendations for a similar program for music on a PC? preferably something automated so I don't have to go through one song/album at a time. Most of my music files have the basic artist/song/track info but may be missing other stuff like genre, album cover, etc.

I don't have experience with any good Windows program for music tagging. I did all that work in iTunes, searching the internets for cover art. That took forever but it was before I had a real job and kids so I had some time. At least you can do it in iTunes.

I use Identify on the Mac, seems to work great. I've found a few minor issues with it. I reported them to the author and a short time later they were fixed. Even asked for a new feature and got that. Great little app.

I use both of these in tandem. MetaX is great for series' (since you can edit multiple files at the same time and use templates). Subler for individual files and optimization.

interesting . . . I found that MetaX was pretty worthless for TV shows. It couldn't pull in any data - but, there is a good chance it was more user error than anything else.

Subler "just worked" so to each his/her own, I suppose.

Agreed, regarding MetaX. I use iDentify2 now and as long as your episode filenames are accurate, it's a breeze--load an entire season into the program, let the search do it's thing, pick your preferred coverart from the selection that was pulled in from TVDB and TagChimp and click save. Entire process takes about a minute or two.

I also switched from metaX as it never found half the movies I added whereas the app I choose, iFlicks from the Apple App store found all and worked great.

I would recommend iFlicks.

I Downloaded iDentify 2 yesterday off that back of this thread and i'd like to say thank you to all who mentioned it.

Its simple and really easy. Love the way it adds the vid to itunes once its finished the meta.

Thanks again

$10 bucks man. Why shouldn't the programer get paid for his work? Who cares about the GUI -- it's solid software.

Oh of course he has every right to sell his software, like I said though I just thought it was a bit of a derpy derp moment how he had a moan about not getting enough donations, almost like he was expecting to get them. A donation is and should always be a completely voluntary act, people asking for them should never expect to get anything. And it's clear that his remarks about not making minimum wage out of the donations that he was expecting to get something. Derp.

That aside though in my opinion it most certainly isn't solid software. Over the year I used it I encountered crashes and dodgy GUI quirks. And the GUI being designed the way it has been... Erug. it looks ugly and a lot of text input fields just seem like they could be placed with better organisation. But that's just me!

I know it's a tough economy and $10 is $10 but I'd pay it and move on. If your time is worth anything it pays for itself almost immediately.

Oh it's not about the money for me though, since 10 bucks is nothing to me, I could buy the thing fifty times over if I wanted to and have spare change for a new Mac Pro but the thing is, it was free, and now it isn't. I don't think it's particularly well designed, nor do I find it a "solid" application, and most of all tagging my films and tv shows beyond the name and the artwork was at best, a completely superfluous practice. To me at least this app just isn't worth paying for.
