That's debatable.
Sorry, I meant consumer division. He axed a bunch of cool stuff. I understand the financial side of things, but if he actually pushed them instead of axing them, I think they would have found their place and started to become profitable. Surface division was not profitable first. Problem was most product development teams were neutered and unable to push what their vision was. Therefore some half bummed products were released.

The band. It was a cool idea with poor execution. The strap was weak, it had a huge goiter on the bottom of the strap creating a weird overall look. Have you seen the lumia watch that was designed but never released? it was AWESOME.

If they kept going with windows 10 mobile, and created some buzz for it along with rejigging the entire payment structure of everything it would have been a successful branch of MS. But licensing and royalty fees killed that. Both the 950 and X3 were amazing business and consumer devices. A 1030 version of the 1020 was in the works with amazing features that would have been mind blowing even today was axed. there was much that could have been done to bring users onboard.

I never heard of that.

They had been failing for years. I don't think he saw it as worth it. To him, it was too late.
Yeah those were the days when MS at least tried to play in the popular device categories.
Yeah, I really miss those days.

Here they are....or were. They were designed the same time as the 950 series phones. So before iphone. Wonder where apple got their design language to for the watch. There are videos somewhere of one of these functioning.

Here is the article about them. They were called the moonraker.

The Windows 10 smart watch Microsoft was working on BEFORE Apple Watch | Express.co.uk

I would have been all over these and the 1030 mclaren if they released it. The 1020 succesor supposedly had a 64mp camera back in 2014

So... beautiful... cannot resist! Why did Microsoft have to kill off their innovation?!

Ah! The beautiful simplicity!

Also, the unreleased predecessor to the Microsoft Band!

True, more competition in the device area would be cool but they are still in the pc offerings at least.
I just don’t like working with Windows anymore I guess. Traumatised

Because even when they were paying developers to make apps for the platform, they still weren't biting. Pretty much the only time people were buying these devices was when they were $50 in the bargain bin.

Unfortunate. It would've been nice to have as an alternative to the Apple - Google duopoly. Iirc, I had an LG Windows phone that had a slide-out keyboard. It really is nice and clean but there were barely any apps for the darned thing.

Which tasks are often too frustrating for you? Have you tried any other Apple products and liked them?
Closing programs, no right mouse button for bringing up menus, The fact that MacOS big sur basically looks like IOS that was on my 2007 macbook. Just overall, it's not as good as windows 10. I am bored with my iphone and ipad now. I use my 199 dollar samsung tab A 8.0 10 times more than my ipad 6th gen now, because ios and ipad os is just the same old same old boring os. It is not inspiring or fresh. Its exactly the same as my ipad 2. Static icons in spring board.

I loved Windows mobile. the integration was great. I think they went about the developers the wrong way. But, it's all hindsight now. I am still thinking about buying some windows mobile devices for S&G's.

Google's flawed logic also didn't help. They expected users to adopt Windows Phone without Google apps instead of putting their apps on the platform beforehand and then have that help attract loads of users. That could've saved Windows Phone. They even managed to screw over Windows RT at the same time.
There even used to be a cool official YouTube app for Windows Phone, but Google struck that down too.
It was a whole saga.
