so who else was super excited knowing their iPad was arriving April 3rd, with plans to be sitting by the window and on macrumors all day looking at people talk about their fresh iPads?

I know i was. unfortunately some unforseen circumstances have erupted!!

turns out i will be working at disneyland on the 3rd from 8-12.

what do you guys think i should do? hopefully they arrive with my package till 1? should i call the shipping company and ask them to hold? what if im not home! will they leave the package? for suspecting people to come and steal it! this is the part that makes me nevous.

anyone else having this dilemma? This is ruining my april 3rd date :(

what do u suggest i do mac dawgiee. i really wanna get it on the 3rd. and since idk if fed ex is open sunday. i would have to wait till monday! which i go to school till 4! i wanna play with my ipad

Have them deliver to a neighbor you trust?

Maybe they will deliver to disney lol. Course if your dressed as Mickey there may be an ID problem :p

I know on other items that require signature, Apple will allow you to print a form and pre-sign and leave it for the FedEx people. You leave the signed form, they leave the package. I did it on my iPhone 3GS, worked like a champ. Seems like I couldn't print the form though until the phone actually shipped. As long as you live in a place you trust to have the hotness sitting on the doorstep, you should be good.

If you go to your order details on the Apple site, you should be able to print out a form to pre-sign for the delivery, in which case you can have them leave it per your instructions (and at your risk).

would i be able to leave instructions for them to go next house (neighbors) and drop it off their.

what id feel more comfortable with is to pick it up ask them to not deliver it and maybe just pick it up after deliveries were sent? if thats possible

Pre sing for it. I imagine it won't get there until after 1. If it does come earlier it won't be much sooner than 12, I think; so very little chance of someone taking it.

Lucky you, I am in Costa Rica. So will probably have to wait until late April early May, before I figure out a way to get my iPad down here!

i think what ima do is presign and hope they dont show up till 1
and if they do come, im sure it wont get stolen.

question, if it is stolen, am i s.o.l?

Just cancel your pre-order and reserve a unit to pick up at Brea or South Coast (or if you're adventurous, run to the Best Buy next to The Block after work).

Just one man's opinion, but I would not pre-sign and authorize delivery of this

You gotta ask yourself... do you feel lucky... do you?

I have sent stuff to my Uncle in Glendora, Cali. Many times he is not there so they just leave it on the porch, sometimes the entire day, never has been a problem.

Usually the stuff is Computer parts like: 58xx's/monitors/motherboard/ipods Sometimes even laptops

That really depends on the neighborhood you live in.

Mine is safe enough that carriers leave packages at the door anyway (including high ticket items like computers and nice car wheels). I'm sure the savings in efficiency for them (not having to make multiple delivery attempts) outweighs the occasional loss they have to cover.

I absolutely Hate fed ex, if you are not home they will not leave it, if you leave a signed form , they'll go to a different door, they often go by my house, leave a form saying no one was home and I there and they never rang.

Thats why I chose the reserve option and I'll go get it, plus it gives me the chance to see what accessories are in and what I want to purchase.

I don't understand...there's only one thing you could do...call in sick. :D

i would! thing is. since the job is seasonal, im only working one week of spring break. if it was winter or summer season, no problem. but i cant miss any days.

Can't tell you what to do or even offer advice as you alone will bear the consequences of that decision . . . good or bad.

However ;) if it were me, I'd take off work :D
Fortunately, I no longer need to make those kind of decisions (retired)

I've NEVER had delivery problems with Fed Ex and have found them to always be reliable and efficient . . . now UPS is another story. I have the exact same problem, multiplied, with them. Horrible service from UPS
