I am thinking about getting a pair. How much better do these sound from the normal earpods? Also, I know they aren't noise cancelling but can you wear them on a train and not be bothered by the outside world.

Who knows what gen2 will offer or even when it will come out. If you want em get em. They are plenty loud and have enough bass.

I don't think you'll be happy with them. You can hear ambient noise around the current generation of Airpods. MacRumors recently had a story about a rumored over-the-ear model that they said would be noise-cancelling, so you might want to hang on for more news.

What do you mean? So the Lighting earpods that came with my ip 8 + is better in terms of sounds? than the airpods?

it cost $167.42 here. should i wait for the new Airpods or buy this?

Take advantage of the AirPods. There has been one rumor that they will be updated eventually late 2018, but we don’t know if it’s true or not. There an excellent product and my favorite feature has to be the auto play and pause when you remove one AirPod and then you put it back in your ear and then the music resumes. Pairing is also seamless with the iPhone. The volume and sound are impressive enough for me.

As for as the sound, in my opinion I think the Airpods are slightly better than the equipped earbuds that comes with the phone, but I’ve known some to say they sound slightly worse. So I’d say the consensus would be they are equal to each other in sound. However, I think their TRUE wireless capabilities and interaction with all apple products are the selling point. I use my Airpods with four different apple products on regular bases (2 phones, watch and iPad). I’ve had the Airpods for almost a year and these are the best I’ve had and the most expensive. If I can get at least two years of the same performance (I’ve had regular wired earbuds to last me as little as 4 months), then I can say they are worth the buy.

For me the AirPod sound too low in volume they are not too loud and they lack horribly in BASS ! Apple needs to work big time on these issues !!

I said the same thing until somebody on an elevator told me what song I was listening to. So I thought it was just me.

No issues on the train....if they fit well.

I think people who say they can hear a lot of ambient noise possibly don't realise that the Airpods may not be fitting in their ears as intended.

We're all different - Airpods will fall out of some ears, yet sound good, but they're stay in some ears, yet sound bad, as they're not snug as they could be.

I'd try them, maneuver them around until you get a good fit/sound & test them in noisy environments. Only you can judge how your ears handle them.

I've been lucky with my ears (my eyes & hair are going though!) in that they're made for Airpods design & are VERY loud at 100% ( I never use them this loud apart from when mowing the lawn) & block out enough ambient noise at my work, gym, shopping centres, trains, buses, street.

My only issue with AirPods and fit is that I have to keep my ear hair trimmed otherwise they aren't very secure after a week or so. First world problems.

If they fit your ears well and you can create a good seal (naturally or with some DIYs) they are great for their function, practicality and good sound (not the best but they are good) then I would say get them. I cannot use them cause they fall out of my ears and I can't produce a good seal naturally (tried my wife's set out).

I just picked up a pair from someone for 60 bucks, and at that price I would buy multiple pair because I like em that much!

The default earpods that come with the iphones dont work for me and wont stay in my ear and hurt them (a little too big) But for some ungodly reason the airpods fit snug as a bug. Dont have problems with them falling out or even moving in my ears while walking or running!

The Airpods are literally my favorite Apple purchase since my iPhone 5.

Once you use them in bed or on a desk without any cords there isnt any coming back

Now if you are using this for running, working out, or walking around on the street where they can fall (if you dont have SquareTrade Accidental warranty) then they probably wont be for you

But for home and office work, they changed the game up for me

I’m addicted to it. Lost mine, bought the others... but i just ordered another set because the convenience from the W1 chip is just... worth paying for.

Got mine for my bday this weekend and I love them. Placed my first phone call from them yesterday and the person on the other end had a very clear and crisp sound. I definitely recommend these.

I got AirPods last week. Sound and fit is meh. I got the foam covers for them, sound is improved but fit is worse.

I love the convenience. I think Apple hit a homerun with the charging case and the overall ID, but why do they insist on the terrible earpod design? If these were the usual in-ear silicone tip type earbuds, I would gladly pay $200 for them. But the hard plastic just doesn't feel good, and if the feel isn't good, none of the other conveniences matter.

So I would say try them out, but imo they aren't worth it. I will be returning mine.

Where did you get the foam covers?
