Rev A, No Problems

I have a "day one" (ordered 14 minutes after the store came back up) Rev A 1.8/SSD. Not one problem so far.

It's now my primary machine: Office (yeah, but what can you do?), RapidWeaver, Pixelmator, Vector Designer, XMIND, OmniGraffle Pro, etc.

Watch video from hulu every day with no heat/stutter issues.

Best machine I've ever had (7 Macs, 7 PCs over the years); would buy one again in a heartbeat...

I'm sure others have had problems, and I'm sure others besides me have not. If there are problems then it isn't a fundamental design flaw; from other threads most issues seem to point to quality control issues (especially the thermal paste).

Skip the external DVD; it's entirely avoidable. Do spring for the USB Ethernet dongle; it's amazing how often I've been in places (hotels, conference rooms) without wireless... If you need power in a car, get a generic inverter.

Good luck!

So, voicing your opinion = insulting anyone who owns or purchases a certain version of a certain make of computer?

Here's a link for you and Scottsdale...

Well, I do apologize if I came across as a bit snippy earlier. But Abudephane had suggested that people like myself and Scottsdale were lying when we suggested the rev. a Air was a bit of a dog. His exact words of course were 'I doubt their veracity'.

Huh? The problems with the rev. a Air are widely documented, not only by many users, but the official Mac press as well.

I wanted to really love my rev. a Air, but I just couldn't. So I related my personal experience with the rev. a in my first post, one that's consistent with hundreds of others who've written about the rev. a Air ... and I get called a liar?

Um... maybe you should direct that 'bully' link to Abudephane as well, LOL.

I really don't understand why anyone would send a bully link. Seriously, I didn't bully or attack anyone. I clearly stated my problems with the original and the solution in the revised.

I cannot believe some people. I guess we should all consider the source.

the thing is even though the Air would be my primary system, all i need it for would be Safari, iTunes, and VLC (for watching standard definition videos). Do you guys think the rev A. can handle all of this without any glitches?? And I dont mean using it with coolbook or anything. Just the air. I dont plan on watching any High Def content on it.

Yes it should work fine. A number of a software updates (from Apple, Flash 10, Coolbook) make the Reb A a far more capable machine then some might think.

I have one now and it works fine for all those tasks. there is an app that's said to play back better then VLC on the mba if you do run into any problems.

I do think the rev. a would be fine for those things. My experience however was that even though I was 'sure' that all I would use the Air for was simple tasks, like that ... soon I became frustrated by the weakness of the system. The rev. b has a faster processor that runs cooler, a better heat sink, and FAR better graphics. After a few weeks with the rev. a I began to think of my rev. a as a 'crippled' system... and I felt compelled to upgrade.
