Well, I've had TWO replacements, so I think your stats are way out or unresearched.

Both of them had the Random Shut Down by the way which according to Apple themselves is a pretty widespread problem, hence they outright replaced mine.

Ok, what is 2 divided into 250,000. I'd say that's pretty damn minute. Even if EVERYONE on these boards had a MBP and they ALL had problems, that would still easily make up less than 2% of the total machines sold.

That's a pretty liberal estimate I think.

I'd say it's pretty accurate. Any more than that would constitute a pretty big recall and widespread panic apparantley.

What I am saying is the fact that I've had two macbooks with the same identical problem does indicate that there is a problem.

Did you by any chance checked the serial number of those 2 macbooks to see "what week" they were made?

Yeh, they were entirely different weeks of manufacture.

I don't know why people have gotten into statistics regarding percentage of faulty units! All I know is that I had two faulty machines - and thousands of others have had similar issues. Check out www.macbookrandomshutdown.com for more information.

Fanboys only enhance Apple's desire to ignore these serious problems with many units. And bite me if you don't agree - don't even quote me - they are serious as too many people have the issue for it not to be! There is no argument against it.

All it tells us, is that the Macbooks didn't spend enough time in the testing labs.

I still love Apple tho :)

I love when people have issues and then just assume that because they had hard luck that everyone else does too, does it make you feel better to assume such thing?

Well aren't you a breath of fresh air?

Hey, guess what finger I'm holding up to my screen?!

Well, the first was 29 and the second was 32.

The one I've got now does seem to be better though. I've really been putting it to the test and aside from the burning sensation on my legs, it seems to cope welll! :)

Thanks :)
So that's ur third. Week number plz?

It seems to me that the 32 one slipped through :p

33! It does seem to be better though - I'm much happier with this one.

Incidentally, I went back to uni today and spoke to two friends who had also had the same problem. Both had them repaired though and are now running ok.

To the above poster regarding "dick" which I can only assume it aimed at me: "Thanks", insightful :p

In all seriousness, I don't mean to be a dick - I just feel sometimes that people here are against people who have problems! Heck i'm a fanboy myself (Ive had a recent skirmish with Generik who we know is not and therefore can probably side with me on this one) but sometimes, Apple misses the mark and is realllllyyyy slow to help out users.

There must be somebody out there with me on this one? CALLING ALL MACBOOK USERS!!! hehe.

We all sympathize with Macbook owners that have to experience a repair...

...until you start being a dick about it.

Exactly. You should know that there might be problems with a 1G product.

I haven't been over here for a long time - been hanging out over on the political board. Anyway, has anyone bought a MB or MBP with without any bugs yet? You know like the mooing noises and the excess thermal paste? :)

I bought my MB the day it came out. No problems whatsover. Whisper quiet, no 'sharp edges' :D yes it gets hot but that is just testament to the powerful CPU. I dont get why people complain about that so much. Oh and no staining, warping, random explosions or cow impressions. :)
