Could be by reasoning. If the SS :apple:Watch is $450 with a Sport strap then you would probably do just about as well to get the SS for $100. However if the SS is $750 with the Sport strap then price could be a BIG influencing factor.

For me the the mishmash of brushed aluminum and polished stainless steel would drive me nuts. If the stainless steel model ends up being really expensive hopefully authorized 3rd party bands will be on the market soon after launch. But I can see where Apple might want to delay that to increase sales of their own bands.

Will the horrible looking (in real life as opposed to a computer render) Officially Approved Mishmash of brushed steel and polished stainless steel drive you nuts also?

So what's the reason someone would want an aluminum watch with a stainless steel band? Just price?

The combination I'm interested in is aluminum + leather band. Aluminum because it's lighter than steel, and leather because I think that feels better against skin than plastic.

I'll be honest and say that even that's bothersome, at least from that angle. If this pre-production model is indicative of the retail unit and it's this obvious with brushed steel and polished steel, then it'll be even worse with matte aluminum and polished steel along with the different tint in each.

For me, visually.

I want something to either match exactly or be a total contrast, and I'm actually sure many will agree.

Having two things, like that metal strap and the polished body, almost matching "ish" looks much worse than say a leather strap, or a black body with metal strap, or a shiny body and a while plastic strap.

Either Match it well, or contrast it in a nice way.

Don't go for a official, and still shoddy match up of metal colours and textures/finishes.

Whatever. To me, it's a tech gadget, not a fashion accessory. Especially the aluminum model, which is the least expensive. I really don't care what it looks like, as long as it's comfortable to wear.

True, but we're viewing this head on (and so we're not seeing the part that slides in). This will be true of both standard and Space Black SS models. I don't think one is more mismatched than the other.

Agree, though the lighting is rather odd in that image.

I just find it funny, how some people are saying anything less than totally perfection is unacceptable and why this means Apple designed will be THE premium and most perfect, when we see, even their items, when you look, are not that great either.

Honestly. I am 100% sure, if the image I posted above was showing a 3rd party strap from Ebay, we would have a couple here (naming no names) saying it was cheap Chinese rip of junk.

But they won't, as they know it's Apple's official products.

Personally I don't care if it's Apple or Hong Kong Fooey made.

if YOU like it, you have it.
Even it it's a mic of Gold, Silver, Brass, Copper and Bright Orange.

Most of these watches are going to look all the dam same anyway, and is going to be a problem.

Let's see how many of the rich and famous still want to show them off when there are tens of millions of people all with the same watch as them, unlike now, when they can feel special and show it off as they have one and you don't :)

The more customisation, which will come from 3rd party straps, the better.

It would be great if a 3rd party could custom colour the body also. Tricky, but would be great.
