Also by the next beta, things should begin to seem more stable. But that will be in another week or two. Now on the other hand if you cannot wait another week or two for the next beta release, I don’t know what to tell you. lol!

Exhibit 1,000,000,000 of why some people shouldn’t have the beta. These aren’t “mistakes”. There’s a lot of code going on here and this is so they can get real world usage and feedback to correct these lines of code before a public launch this fall. It’s not a way to get new features early. If you don’t like the bugs and aren’t reporting feedback and are just complaining about it online or to Apple, perhaps just roll back to iOS 10.3.2.

It's buggy, but its not unusable. iOS 7 was worse. They've obviously changed a lot under-the-hood. I found beta 2 fixed most issues, Beta 1 was really bad on my 7+.

They are very bad, very slow, many mistakes. I do not remember betas with so many mistakes.
Mistakes? You do realise that this is a beta, right?

Short memory.

ios 5, 6 , and 7 were real rough going. This is nowhere like them.

8-10 seemed less troublesome. But 11, in early beta form, for something as complex as an operating system is not abnormally broken, or unexpected.

Betas are supposed to have issues...that ultimately is the point of the beta tests. This isn't Super Secret Early Features Club™ like many on here think. If issues bug you, you shouldn't take part in this...

For me iOS11 beta has been better than the previous 2 or 3 Beta launches as far as glitches.
Well, to be honest, they're not made "bad" just so stable feels "stable" lol :)

But i know what you're trying to say.

And I agree, they're a private beta and public beta for a reason, and not meant for production devices, obviously.
If you want the latest and greatest then you dont get to complain about it. You get to report on it.. but every major version from say iOS 6 to iOS 7, or iOS 9 to iOS 10 had stability issues from the get go.

Going from 10.2 to 10.3 will be a much more 'stable' experience
Or from 9.1 to 9.2 ..

These are quite obvious things.

and?

These are NOT meant to be perfect...bottom line is that if these things are frustrating to anyone, thankfully there's a super simple way to get around that.....don't be a part of the beta testing program. Couldn't be easier.

That's basically what i said, yeh :)

B2 works very well for me on 6s - the biggest pain is flaky 3rd-party keyboard. IPad is worse off but still very solid. IOS 7 was extremely broken on 64bit devices. It just crashed all the time - even the launch version.

How is multitask on the iPhone for you? I have a lot of open apps i want to close and it flakes out there. Yeah, the keyboard needs a quick reset, but that's it. Everything else seems fine. I mean, no showstoppers, etc.
Reported 18 issues that are returning in functionality and 19 UI issues and 2 performance hitters.
My biggest gripe with iOS 10/11 is that when you are in a skype or ft call for example and you press the hardware button to lock the phone that it goes black, and then the skype or ft window 'you are in this call' is there, but it wasn't like that in older versions. So you could lock it, put in pocket.. now i have had multiple times that i didn't notice and had to go, .. i can't trust it to behave as expected. for some reason this is a feature, and i dont know why.. Why on earth would i have to press the lock screen a few times to really really really lock it, so i can put it away.. alos, when there's a notification coming through and the phone doesn't 'lock after x time', but it's set to never, it actually leaves that screen on for a loooong time.. so when its in your pocket and you're in a call and you get another ft call or something, it keeps the controls on screen and you accidentally add call, hang up, turn on cam, etc..

but besides the personal gripe, iOS 11 is fine, no big show stoppers, and i hope everybody that wanted "the latest and greatest" for dev reasons, for testing reasons and not just "because i wannaaa ittt" .. will actually make the effort to properly report back their usage (issues).

posting here like i just did, or the @op, .. just doesn't really help apple.

iOS 11 is worse than 9 and 10 but not nearly as bad as 7 or 8. I actually found the first two betas of iOS 8 to be the worst I've ran by far. iOS 8 probably did more to change the foundations of the OS than any other update and it showed in the betas.

I will say that iOS 11 is much much worse on my iPad Air than it is on my iPhone 7, likely due to a combination of the weaker performance and the update being more significant for iPads than it is for iPhones.

From worse to better:
iPhone 6s+, iPhone 5s, iPad Air 1, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro (big daddy)

Lol you must have a short memory. Even the final releases of the pre iOS 4 OSs had some major issues. Plus it's a beta. It's not meant for a daily driver.

Save the criticism for the public releases.
Guys why are you so easily sucked in by one post newbies?

If running into software problems is an issue for you, then do not run software clearly labeled as BETA.

It is expected to have bugs, this is why it has not yet been released. Running BETA software, you have no right to complain, other than filing a bug ticket with Apple so they can look at fixing it.

I'm only seeing occasional hiccups with these betas. Maybe I'm lucky, but I usually don't have any trouble at all with betas. I remember iOS7 being a mess. iOS 8 was eh. But every beta since has been a breeze for me.

I signed up for the iOS public beta program almost immediately after it was announced and have been installing and using the public betas on all of my iOS devices since the beginning of the program. It’s taking a calculated risk but I’ve been fortunate. I’ve never run into something that’s bricked a device nor a bug so bad that I needed to roll the beta back.

I have, unfortunately, had to replace a couple of devices that were damaged while running a beta with the backup being in iCloud which means I’ve had to setup the replacements as new devices, install the beta profile, install the beta version the old device was running, wipe the new device then restore from the backup in iCloud.

I’ve got an iPhone 6s and an iPad Pro 9.7” running the public iOS 11 beta now. I’ve noticed some bugs on the iPad with the app switcher and the new keyboard but that’s to be expected in an early beta release considering that these are areas of iOS 11 where the most changes have taken place. None are show stoppers but they can be annoying. I haven’t run into any issues with the beta so far on my iPhone.

I’d say that, all in all, this beta seems to have slightly more bugs than I’ve experienced in the past with iPads but not by much.

My advise would be this. If you’re comfortable rolling a beta back then have at it but expect bugs. If you’re not comfortable with being able to do that then don’t install it on your primary iOS device.

You must have never used an iOS beta then. iOS 9 beta was unusable till like beta 4. Every app crashing constantly 2 hours of battery regular resprings. For me beta 1 and 2 have been stable with just minor hiccups

To be honest, I don't think iOS 11 betas are the worst we have seen. I have been testing Betas since iOS 5 and I honestly think the iOS 7 betas were the worst.

We need to keep in mind, that these are in beta for a reason. They are not going to be complete and they are going to full of bugs. Betas are for developers so we can play with the new SDKs and get our apps ready for iOS 11.

I have never had a beta that was flawless. I don't ever expect it either.

For me it's been the worst, hands down. And I've had just about all of them. What's even more annoying than the bugs in iOS 11 beta 2 are many of the members of this site with your tired, annoying "it's a beta" responses. Yes it's a beta. Everyone knows that. The OP was comparing beta to beta. So no reason for your repetitive, stupid response "it's a beta, it's supposed to have issues". It's almost like you people come to this board just looking to type that crap response. It's ok for people to discuss the issues they are having here. And it's ok if they comment that this beta is worse than many others. WTF is this board for if they can't make a comparison of this beta to previous betas?

easy there. seems a lot of people install the betas, then expect flawless performance. and just as the OP is free to post his thoughts, others are free to post their responses. it does seem that some people don't clearly understand what a beta is. and not everyone's experience is the same. for me, 11pb1 is mostly fine (at least, no crises... yet)...
