Sorry but I have had zero use for the headphone jack in many years. Just another place for debris or water to enter the phone.

I doubt Apple did this to make money on the adapter but doubt I could convince you of that. Sorry, just my opinion but have little use for a jack on my iPhone.

Cool ? Apple is a for profit company. They are doing it for a profit. If anything leaving it there for water to get in would be a reason to keep it there to make more money fixing the phones.

Sorry but as much as I use wireless headphones because of the fact there is no headphone jack and adapter are just dumb SQ is still superior wired then wireless. You might not care but plenty of people do.

I’ll be honest. The headphone jack was one of the reasons for me to stick to my iPhone 6 for over 3 years. I still used wireless headphones but only during my workout sessions. This is partly due to battery life of the headphones and they weren’t really cheap ones.

But then when I eventually bought the 8 Plus last year, I was thinking what to do with my headphones situation and finally ended up buying the AirPods. Yes they’re a bit expensive for some people but they’re worth the convenience they bring in my life, especially in terms of ease of use and battery life. Now I don’t even need to use a wired headphone for anything.

256GB iPX here, 2 sets of headphones (1 wired, 1 Bluetooth) with my own rips, iTunes purchases and Apple Music on. Add in around the house Sonos at home and if iPhones are no longer good for music, I didn’t get the message.

£14.99 a month gets me and my family access to more music that my local HMV has ever stocked together with my own rips of Beatles in Mono, Floyd Immersion sets and lord knows what else together with all of my iTunes purchases (not all on AM) going back to 2004.

The lack of a headphone jack I’ll give you, but otherwise.... if you’d have told my teenage self that one day I’d be walking around with a smaller than a Walkman device that could call up every album i’ll Ever own plus more music than a flagship branch of HMV, Tower or Virgin Megastore all wirelessly when I’m out and about over a globally a chess isle computer network, I’d have flat out refused to have believed you and said it was beyond science fiction.

Mid 40s me however thinks this is the best life has ever been in terms of access to music. The cost of the phone and my AM subscription is peanuts for what I get out of it all music wise.

SQ is better bar none. The ones I ended up using the blower and Wilkins px is really good though. I live with it because at the end of the day it’s not a deal breaker for me. As far as air pods goes I hate ear pods because they hurt my ears and sound like crap. The air pods are basically ear pods with the wires and isn’t worth $150 . Sq alone I would probably suggest the Bose ones which do cost more but one of the best sounding True wireless ear buds so far

I used to think the same until I tried them out. The sound quality on AirPods is definitely better than the EarPods and the fit is a bit different as well. I didn’t like EarPods either because they never stayed in my ears but AirPods are different story.

They are generally the same thing and either way not a huge fan of earbuds in general. I get a ton for free anyways because of a thing with best buy which gives me stuff to review. No need to spend money on earbuds. Prefer full size headphones anyways. Also not worth $150 for me to try. Maybe if they come out with a hey Siri thing maybe I’ll give it a try

Keep in mind music will always sound better wired vs wireless.

Thats not the case with mobile devices such as iPhone.
Wired is currently better only when using external source and dedicated headphone amp + wired headphones.

iPhone, or any other mobile device is not a dedicated headphone amp. Not even close. You will still get better audio quality with wireless when iPhone is your source device.

A GOOD pair of wired headphones will sound better than any wireless option. This is a fact. Some phones are VERY good in terms of being an audio source. The V20 and V30 especially.

I am in agreement about Apple being in it for the profit.

I care, I care a lot, just not about the prehistoric phone jack!

Enjoy!

i hear they removed the headphone jack, and are in the process of removing all the physical buttons. so you have to pull it out of your pocket to control the music in any way?

what do you guys do about this? are you carrying a seperate music player or an older iphone to get around such problems? i don't have an iphone but i have been thinking of getting one, and these things concern me.

do they still use itunes for mp3/aac? i heard they may be killing itunes for something called apple music, a streaming service.
1. Apple earbuds have volume buttons, Play/pause and next/prev track controls. Most earbuds/headphones designed for iPhones have those controls as well. Most bluetooth headphones have those controls too. I don't see the issue.
2. iPhone is not really a good investment if you just want a music player anyway. A cheap Android phone with SD card slow is a better value.
3. iPhone supports MP3/AAC encoded by any encoders. But you do still need iTunes to transfer your own tracks to the phone. There are alternative software out there, but iTunes is probably the easiest if you want to use the built-in Music app. Alternative is to upload all your songs to Google Music, and use the Google music app to play your songs (but Google will re-encode all your tracks).

I know this is an older thread but I would have always agreed that the wired earbuds were better. However, my beloved Shures 535 IEM’s came out with a Bluetooth cord this past year and honestly I don’t hear any difference when I switch from corded to Bluetooth. No lag with videos either.
