I just got a new macbook pro with mavericks and I'm hugely disappointed with the iOS. My MP4,1 is still running Lion.

After waiting for years for the new MacPro and with it being just days away from release, it just dawned on me that I no longer want one. With every macpro upgrade so far all I did was swap a drive in. Now I would have to reconfigure my entire business IT from new. :/

Is there any indication on being able to run iOS 10.7 on the new mac pro?

if you don't want one what are you crying about? do you even know?

wow. a couple of helpful answers and then so much hate.

fwiw, we stuck with Apple and dove straight in with Aperture libraries and custom scripts from the beginning. But due to volume and managing old libraries and vaults, we are were waiting for the new Mac Pros before switching to Adobe Lightroom. But with all the issues regarding OS, thunderbolt RAIDs, etc.. maybe staying on the course of Mac doesn't make as much sense anymore

Yeah a lot of people on this forum stressed out about the new form factor and such. Everyone was crying please don't kill the MP and stuff a year ago, Apple changes the form factor and the MP is dead anyways to a lot of people. Puts them in a real nasty mood!

KoolAid Eggnog anyone?

LOL, thats the best jab at Apple's iPadification of the Mac OS I've seen in a while :)

But with all the issues regarding OS

Could you be specific? You seem to be implying there is a problem with Mavericks, but I'm not aware of any, and you haven't named any. If you had a specific concern we could be more helpful.

I'm not going to haze you here, but... what issues are you referring to regarding the OS or TB RAIDs? This is too vague and not informative for people trying to help you.

Mavericks is stable and buttery smooth and I've had no problem with TB or RAID; if those issues exist, they are likely to be issues with the arrays themselves, not the computer.

Your IT department should (1) never hack things for business environments, where stability and reliability is paramount, and (2) have the latest OS at all times for security reasons. Save the hacking for personal computers.

Finally, why would a switch to Windows be better? I am having trouble seeing any issue with migrating to Mavericks for the uses you describe such as Aperture library and various scripts. If you think this is going to be a pain in the ass, how exactly would switching to Windows, where Aperture doesn't even exist, be a superior solution?

Me either. I've got an internal and external RAID, no issues with Mavericks.

Why on earth would you be? Mavericks includes a load of very important improvements to responsiveness, and memory compression effectively gives you close to 50% extra RAM for free.

There are bugs of course; it's still fairly early for Mavericks, but I can't really think of anything in the OS that could make it worse than Lion. I liked Lion, I'm just saying that Mavericks is just more incremental improvements, and for one it finally gets close to fixing Lion's poor multi-monitor support (thanks to Fullscreen), which for the pro market is particularly important.

My mine gripes with Mavericks is they've started changing the icons, but not got very far with it. I wish they'd just made the Mountain Lion look more consistent, and saved any UI changes till later.

for me, mavericks is nice because of the new attempts at file mgmt.

tagging, naming/re-naming, as well as re-locating the file can all happen via the the titlebar at the top of a document window.

it's a good one and definitely helps me save some time as well as stay a bit more organized.. i'll take it.

i've only used it on my laptop so far which is used in the more hectic/fast-paced environment while on-site (i.e.- my onsite computer tends to get real messy real quick).. tags let me put files in the most convenient places but i can quickly find everything at days/weeks end to consolidate.. seems like it should work out well in the calmer office (home office in my case) environment as well.
