of course their are MBAs with no lines. I have a Rev. B 128/SSD. NO LINES. I'm sure their are thousands with no lines. They just aren't posting, because they aren't BOTHERED. This site is a bit skewered, because you hear mostly from people who have problems/issues with their MBAs. People with no problems don't bother to post...

And beside of what the other poster said people are reporting browsing through store and not finding line free airs not merely having buggy ones, there's a huge difference there.

Well, I have a new Rev B and have not had any screen issues...
I think it looks great and haven't noticed any lines, etc. from any angle.
Maybe I'm blind... but chances are that if some non-existent lines bother you then there are probably a million other things that are going to annoy the heck out of you too...the MBA is not perfect after all; but I like it and am generally glad I bought it. I take it everywhere and it's only a matter of time before I scratch the heck out of it...but it's like a good pair of jeans, you know you got your money's worth if you wear them thin.

I don't think you should base the decision of your purchase on just the posters on these forums. Keep in mind, it someone is having an issue with their Mac, they're most likely to come here and post. There are tons and tons of people who have purchased this machine and have it working flawlessly. The issue isn't exactly widespread and hasn't garnered the attention of significant news sites, meaning there clearly aren't many complaints about it.

It's a little farfetched to believe that ALL MacBook Air's have this issue based on a relatively limited number of users. I'd recommend simply buying the machine you want. Expect perfection, but know that there is a minor probability that there will be an issue with the machine, just like any electronic equipment.

AGREED! Mine is perfect, and I'm tired of this forums every other thread being "They ALL have lines, you are blind , or stupid if you don't see them." Get over it and stop bitchin- return it IF it has lines- or sell it if you can't return it- but STOP filling this forum with the same numerous and new threads on "screen lines"!
It discourages others from even coming here.

Bottom line is it doesn't matter to the vast majority of us, because we cannot see the lines during "normal" use of our MacBook Air.

Yes, the lines may be there on some, possibly many, but NOT all rev B MBAs.

People that do find the lines are looking for them. The vast majority of the "line consortium" state they have to use weird viewing angles, specific backgrounds, and view from a certain distance, NONE of which is during "NORMAL USE" of the MBA. I have seen the lines, so I know what they look like, and I know how I had to see them - it was absolutely abnormal.

My question has changed since seeing the lines... does it matter? Does it matter if the lines are very faint and can only be seen from that distance, that viewing angle, and with that background?

I am not saying that Apple doesn't owe us each an absolutely perfect MacBook Air, as the Lord knows we are paying a small fortune for them. What I am saying is does it matter if there are lines, if we cannot see them during normal use. Should we expect that the display looks perfect from an abnormal view. If there are lines that are not seen at "normal" viewing angles, then who really cares; that is not the intended use of the MacBook Air.

I am sorry Scottsdale, but I'll disagree with you this time since the lines bother me a lot whenever I try to edit any image with a light colored background. It feels as if I had one of those line layers turned on in PS.

If I can easily edit that image using my cell phone, then I should be able to edit on my fancy and expensive notebook.

In addition, don't your eyes hurt you if you use a dirty (dust or tons of smudges) screen? These lines cause eye problems the more you use your screen.

I think the OP should NOT get a MBA if he cannot return it.

Well put. I totally agree.

Why didn't you return it then? Have you seen them without lines? I still don't get why you wouldn't just return it, especially if that is what you suggest to the OP.

Hope you get it fixed or swapped, as you deserve a perfectly viewable display from normal viewing angles.

Actually, the store refused to replace it and described it as "within specs" but Apple took it back after I called them.

I gave up long time ago, but due to your posts, I ordered one from Amazon two days ago and it is coming Monday/Tuesday and I will let you know.

I ordered this one just before I pull the trigger on the new 17" MBP which is going to be my secondary (living room) machine instead of the MBA if it turns to have lines.

Unfortunately, I have not seen any without lines in all the stores in addition to the one I bought and then returned. However, I have seen that the screen model 9C90 is the better one compared to the 9C9A which has lines written all over it but yet the better one has extremely hard to be noticed lines unless you were looking for them.

Wish me luck and again I offer you or any of those without lines a MSRP price for your used machine :D just because I know that I have no luck to get one without lines from Apple!

This reminds me of the "grainy screen" issue that loads of people were complaining about on the MBPs when I bought mine (about 2yrs ago). According to many people on here, the screens were so grainy that they were completely unusable. Oddly, the screens on a few MBPs I looked at in stores (and on the one I eventually got from Apple) looked to me exactly like every other LCD screen I'd ever seen and were fine. Maybe I'm blind, or maybe there are a lot of people who are more picky than me. Whatever, I'm happy and I'd advise the OP to check a few screens out for himself - if they look fine, buy one and it's likely yours will be fine too.
