As a retired professional librarian as well as a serious amateur (hobbyist) photographer I am concerned about potential abuse of copyright.....

Perhaps taking a different tone and attempting to educate instead of castigate may have been more helpful. This is even more important when the medium is text, with its limited emotional bandwidth, and where not everyone is guaranteed to share the same first language.

Many, (most?), people do not understand copyright and fair use. Giving people the benefit of the doubt while explaining what is right is in general a more effective strategy.
