My iPad disconnects like 3 times an hour and sometimes can't even reconnect unless I restart the thing. It's seriously getting annoying and the last thing I've heard was that it's a software issue that will be fixed 'soon'. What's taking so long?
 
Why don't you change out your router? I have a Linksys and never had an issue with any of my wifi products...ps3, wii, BR player, LCD TV, iPad, iMac, Brother wireless printer, etc. etc. etc.

You should call the router manufacturer and find out why their product can't transmit a proper signal.
 
A friend of mine had the same problem with her 32 GB w/ 3G model, after having an Apple support tech walk her thru a full reset the problem stopped.

But when I had my iPad reset the problem continued.
The Apple store tech suggested that the problem was with my router, and wanted me to contact the company that makes my router for tech support.

I told them that I had to drive about 90 miles to come into their store and that because no other wireless devices in my home (including my husbands iPad) were having trouble maintaining a connection with out constantly requesting the password they should just replace my iPad and save me the trouble of driving all the way back there in a few days.

I have had a new iPad now for a couple of weeks and no wifi problems - have Apple support walk you thru a full reset and if that doesn't work try to have your iPad exchanged.

Bunch of stuck up snob idiots who talk to you like you have never even owned a computer or router.

Don't be too hard on them; the phone jockeys are just level 1 customer reps who have to go off their scripts. Most likely you know more than they do.
If its happening in multiple locations on multiple ipads, it's clearly a software problem and we'll have to wait for the next firmware update.

I'm hopeing a firmware update is all I need. I have to drive over an hour to keep exchanging these dam things. At this second I have full signal and it's loading pages fine then it will just goto 1 bar on signal then get really slow and just stop! Then if I'm lucky after a few mins it will reconnect me to the network it's self but 90% of the time it asks me for password even though I have already saved the password! I couldn't even load google the other day but I could on every other device. 5 hours later google was working on it! Also my battery don't last anywhere near what it did from new. But that's a whole different matter. I'm at 46% after just 3 hours and 7 mins from a full charge!

80% of people having those WiFI issues do not have the same symptom between their routers and the rest of their WiFI products. It's not the routers that's the main issue, while some people's iPad wifi can be fixed with some settings configuration on the router, it isn't the actual single cause. The iPad's WiFi software is buggy as hell. It isn't releasing DHCP addresses when it should, it shows the same issue in multiple different network environment and so on. There are some iPads that shows WiFi issues with the other one showing no issue in the same network with same router.

As it turns out, some iPad WiFi get worse over time like mine. It was perfectly stable for a couple of weeks and suddenly it starts having issues. Absolutely no config changes to the network.

That's exactly what is happening with mine. They are fine for a bit then they slowly get worse and worse. It's taking me more than 2 mins to upload my replies for this thread.

I'm happy for you. My bro in laws also works great when being used on the same network mine is on. I ain't been as lucky. His battery is getting worse and worse like min though.
 
I sure wish they would - they are releasing a fix for the iPhone 4 fast enough.

I heard that it's beyond a software fix but more a design flaw. They need to revise the design and send out customers new phones. All im hearing lately is problems with new iphone this problems with new iPhone that. I dont even own one but apple, AT&T and dropped calls go hand in hand. Better not be the same for my wi-fi problem.

Jobs says there is nothing wrong with the hardware and we should just wait.

I bet he does. As with every other problem with a apple product he treats it like it's a feature and not really a problem. So far numerous experts have said it's a flawed design but apple still sell them! They seem to be able to get away with this when every other company would fix the issue and recall the product. It's a pretty big issue with thousands of search results coming up on google alone. This may have been one of their biggest mess ups to date. Even if the issue was fixed I wouldnt buy one just because of being on AT&T network. They must have the US most dated network. I heard sprints 4g network now covers more area than AT&T's network! True or not AT&T need to spend more money on their network and not rely on iPhone sales as it won't be long before apple drop them and sell on all net works then AT&T will be left in the dust.

If another iPad is working fine on your network then maybe it is your iPad. However, maybe your network is just on the edge and only works sometimes. Maybe you want to wait for Apple (not in your control) or take a pro-active action (in your control). New routers are not that expensive. I found that I have problems with 5ghz with some devices but 2.4ghz (802.11n) seems to work better. Again, up to you and your budget to decide what is best for you. For me, I don't like to wait if I have another option.

Indeed. The software update that addresses this issue is forthcoming. I don't mind waiting until September or whatever. My WiFi dropping isn't too bad, and you can't expect absolute perfection from the get-go with this still relatively new species of products.

What numerous "experts"? Bloggers aren't experts. According to this "expert" who designed antennas and such, it's not a design issue when FCC mandates certain compromises for the antennas not to be spilling radiation directly into the user's head, so Apple has to put the antenna on the bottom. Nobody other than Apple knows what the problem is right now, it is likely a software issue can fix this. It's only been a week, Apple does not rush things. They'll take their time and get the fix out as soon as possible. A recall is always a last resort and I doubt this will ever get recalled as not everybody have the same problem. It's likely less than half of all owners right now.

Thousands in google search does not mean anything at all, Apple sold more than a million on the first day alone.

Sprint 4G network is barely starting to expand out of a dozen markets (mainly cities of small sizes right now), it doesn't even compare to the AT&T's 3G network or even T-Mobile's 3G network. Sprint's marketing 4G as a complement to their 3G coverage as well, so people don't seem to understand that when you don't live in one of the dozen 4G networks or more, you fail back to 3G.

AT&T have one of the largest 3G networks in the country and is on pace to upgrade the rest of the 3G network to the latest 7.2Mbps 3G standard by the end of the year. 3G network is still the standard in this country. While AT&T hasn't "outspent" the other network providers, upgrading a network of any type isn't a simple task that can be done rapidly and the faster the upgrade, the most costly and more problems that could occur.

Also AT&T did fine for a network that experienced one of the largest data explosions with the introduction of smartphones like iPhone. Every company that had iPhone introduced experienced the same data crunch and had to take measures to fix their networks.

Wait for a week and we'll know if there really is a hardware flaw as some are claiming, or if a software update will fix it. It will be pretty obvious pretty quickly.
 
I had similar problems with my Ipod Touch, frequent disconnects, etc., however since the release of OS4 i have had no issue, so maybe the problem will be fixed on the iPad too with the iOS upgrade

Based on your reply your iPad should fail on all wifi networks, right? So, simply take it to your local Apple store and show them the problem on their wifi setup and get a new iPad. Seems simple enough.

I can assure you that more than half iPhone 4 owners are experiencing this antenna issue. Easily. Everyone I know who owns the phone can duplicate the problem here in NYC. Even if it's only 40% of owners who have this issue, that's still completely unacceptable.

Secondly, Apple probably sold a million units before the first YouTube even went up showing the antenna fault, so what? People made lines with a credit card ready for swiping for a phone they hadn't touched yet.

I love Apple but You're downplaying the whole issue just a bit here and giving AT&T too much credit. I was in that small percentage tile of your graph who was a first gen iPhone owner and couldn't tell you how many freekin dropped calls I had then too. This was all before you saw an iPhone in every corner.
