Yeah, that's the issue with waiting.

Personally, I've got a 512GB LTE 2017 Pro 12.9, 512GB LTE 2017 Pro 10.5 and 256GB LTE Air 3 so I can afford to wait until Apple releases something I like in terms of both hardware and budget.

I was originally planning on getting a 1TB Pro 11 (as upgrade to a Pro 9.7). However, now that I have a 512GB 10.5, I think a 1TB Pro 12.9 will be a better fit considering USB-C will be more useful to me on a "desk" iPad.
😂🤣 Maybe you should wait and then sell those three and then get a brand new Pro 12.9” and Mini 5. Then you get your desk iPad and your mobile one. For me personally, though, I wanted to get a one size fits all, and with the 11” in combination with using an external monitor while at a desk, it is in my personal Goldylocks zone. Combines increased portability (though not like an iPad mini would be of course) with full on productivity (with the always on ASK, mouse when needed, USB-C port, and Apple’s USB-C dongle).

If we get a new IPP in March then the next one will be end of 2021 as per the usual 18 months cycle. The only thing I could possibly see as a reasonable double release is just to add 5g

I typically don't sell my devices. They either get handed down to family or are kept for beta testing, etc.

I already have the 2nd gen 12.9 as my "desk" iPad and the Pro 10.5/Air 3 as my mobile one.

Not gonna lie, I bought the 12.9 solely for reading American comics in 2-page landscape. Anything smaller is just too uncomfortable for that so I'd rather not consolidate. :p It just so happened I found the 12.9 useful and more comfy than the 9.7/10.5 as a third screen at work which is pretty much the only time I use an iPad on a desk with keyboard. Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine with just the onscreen keyboard.

My primary criteria for mobility is that the iPad fit in all my purses and the 10-11" class iPads do that just fine. I don't need the mini 5 and I find it too small for web browsing anyhow. For one-handed use while reading, I prefer the much lighter Kindle/Kobo with less slippery soft-touch plastic chassis anyway.

Half tempted to do the same. . . but I can wait a few more weeks to see if the IPP is released. If not, I'll may just wait until June when a new iPadAir is rumored to be released. But by then I may as well just wait and see if they update the IPP with 5G in Oct. 🤔

I'm doing the same. Target has some iPad placeholder in their inventory already, which likely relates to the March Apple event in the next 4-5 weeks. I'll probably buy whatever iPad that is, since all iPads except the mini can now use the smart keyboard, and am not waiting until summer or fall.
