TBH it's a shame, as with all once you sell out there's no return
Indeed, having spent so much time on Windows recentely I have become used to it. Unfortunately, I just can't stand it for my development work, you understand why seeing a PHP developer using Windows is a shock to everyone when you compare it to macOS. The tools, workflow, synergy to a Linux webserver which is where your work will eventually go and so on.
But I don't need a powerhouse for that, the Mac Mini which remains a pretty solid device in the Apple line up is all I need. Aside from that, I do still love the iPad, the only thing that will make me move away from it is the Surface Pro X, possibly but unlikely the Neo as I don't get the dual-screen approach, not for my use case.
I will continue to use the Xs and Apple watch until one dies or there is a compelling alternative or an iPhone that I think is a worthy replacement at a decent price point. That Surface Duo could be a winner if they get it right.
The thing is, I don't hate Apple in general, I am tolerant of everything, even pricing but the whole MBP keyboard issue just pissed me off and it made me turn to something else. But in the process, I have found myself using Windows either on the S940 or PC much more and not wishing I was back on macOS for everything else apart from dev.
Even updating to Catalina over the past 24 hours has been a complete PITA, USB-C to HDMI cables no longer work, App store purchases disappeared with no way to get them back, they just appeared this morning, whilst it is pretty much all back together it was way more painful than it should have been.
And for many the suffering continues, devices being bricked, software (Apple core, like iCloud) still not functioning correctly. But hey, all the cool new emojis are working..
