I have been getting a new model every year. I want to hold on to this 14 pro max for awhile.
Same here. I’d been upgrading annually. I was always looking for certain things that didn’t come to pass, either in terms of getting one without qc issues or getting something particular from the camera and modem performance.

My 14 Pro Max nailed it. I just have some issues with being sensitive to the display but it’s usable.

I love the perfectly flat display glass. The rumor that they’re bringing back curved bezel glass is a complete turnoff. I don’t like it on my SE 3 or my iPhone 11 because lint accumulates at the edge of screen protectors in a way that doesn’t happen on flat display glass.

I love this deep purple. Rumored 5x zoom isn’t exciting when my Samsung does 30x digital beautifully.

I’m also curious to see how Titanium finishes work out in the real world on iPhones.

I’m feeling every inclination this time to sit this one out.

I buy my phones upfront unlocked, and buy newer model when I need a new phone. I went from a 7 plus(changed battery twice in 5 years for $29) to 12 PM, it was night and day difference. T-Mobile and Apple literally paid me to upgrade to 13 PM. Turned out 49 bucks to upgrade from 12 PM to 13 PM.
I don’t judge people on their iPhone upgrades, some of the serial upgrades manage money better than others who preach.

OK.

Then I can connect two 30 inch Cinema Displays, two 23" Cinema Displays, one 20" Cinema Display and a 55" HDTV to my iPhone then?

I can run InDesign CS21 and QuarkXPress 2020 using a wired mouse and full wired keyboard on my iPhone?

How about Acrobat DC? FontExplorer? Where am I storing my over 5k fonts?

Photoshop, Illustrator? How about when I need to run Vector Magic to create a vector image out of a raster graphic?

I need a filesystem when I direct ID and QXP to create PDFs. Where am I doing that on my iPhone?

I need to work off my employer's server where all the documents are stored. How is the iPhone handling that?

Let me know. I'd love to do all this simply using my iPhone.
You don’t have to do all, you can do lot more with iPhone, outside of very few specific cases you mentioned.

This is true also. I had a 12 Mini but it ended up costing me $50 to upgrade to a regular 13 while staying on the exact same contract with the same carrier.

There wasn’t even any point in replacing the battery on the 12 Mini because getting a newer and faster phone turned out to be cheaper.

I don't have to do all?

What does that mean? I wouldn't be asking anything of my iPhone that I don't ask of my Mac Pro. And my Mac Pro has six displays connected, plus all the apps I mentioned installed.

My work MBP uses both 30" displays too - through a KVM.

The SE still seems like a relevant phone and doesn’t appear outdated like some other phones from that era. The fact that something so small and light can still do 90% of what an iPhone 13 does in 2023 is remarkable.

I just wish Apple would use the original SE shell and pair it with an A14/A15. If that happened, I would sell my 13 and “downgrade” in a second.

Apple did exactly that with the mini line and didn’t sell well enough to discontinue it.

I think perhaps it has also to do with what is in the house.

But both choose computers over being on their phone.

And so do I. Phone screens are way too small for what I like to do/consume. I have large screens and monitors here at home. I'm going to use those, plus all the computers I own (and there are many).

This is pretty much how I feel when it comes to consuming content on the phone. Unless I’m travelling without my laptop / iPad I’d never choose a phone screen over the other devices.

Having said that, most of my music / podcasts listening activities happen on the phone for sure.

I have my music library on my NAS and I've invested in two apps for iPhone/iPad that can access the NAS depending on if I'm out or at home. All my Macs computers use similar apps (not iTunes) to also play music from the NAS. So, it all just really depends on what device I am using at the time and where I'm at.

I do prefer using my computers to play my music though, as I don't like calls interrupting the playback.

I went from a 6s to my 12 Pro Max; I'm not sure when I will replace my 12 Pro Max, but sometimes I do wish to have the latest/best camera, especially having young kids.

yes and no. I always wanted the latest phone every year, and got the 14 pro on launch day but I really missed out on the 13 pro last year. So i ordered the 13 pro after watching reviews and realizing there really is no need to upgrade every single year. If I like the 13P, will sell my 14P and wait and see what the 15 Has in store.

yeah I upgrade every year. I will however need to stop upgrading other phones and adding to my collection AS it'd harder to justify when I know I just always come back to my iPhone

Every 2 years at the absolute longest between upgrades, sometimes I’ll upgrade yearly though

I’ve upgraded every year lately but I’m waiting to see the design of the 15 as I really like the squarer edges on the 14 pro

Yea I only use my iPhone at home to call/message or if an app is just more convenient than going on the website. Otherwise it's my Laptop. If I had a Macbook, I may never use my iPhone at home.

We try to get 4-5 years out of a phone. Since we have 5 lines on our account that means we are essentially upgrading 1-2 phones most years. We skipped upgrading anything with the 14s.

Currently using an XR, two 12s, and two 13s. Every time we upgrade a phone it goes to hubby or I and we pass down our older model to one of the kids or Grandma.

I upgrade every year, but I also sell the old phone, so the money goes towards the new one.

Which I find is the most cost efficient way to spending minimal but getting the latest tech, battery and color

4S to 6 (3 years)
6 to 8 (3 years)
8 to current SE (4.5 years)

I feel like the SE's going to last even longer at this point...

I generally do every two years.

Though, of the three iPhones that I've owned, I upgraded from the latter two because I got fed up with them.

My first iPhone was an iPhone 6s Plus and I regret moving away from that phone as soon as I did. (I mainly wanted to upgrade before the near-perfect experience started to suck. But that was a mistake.). I've since owned an iPhone 7 Plus - which I upgraded because it was having issues and I was getting frustrated with it - and an iPhone XR - which was only meant to be a short-term upgrade, which I'm also becoming very fed up with.

Am hoping the iPhone 13 I buy soon is closer to the experience of my iPhone 6s Plus than the other two. Then again, I'm waiting for a decent time to dive into Pro territory for the better camera system. 14 Pro clearly isn't it and I was too slow on deciding that I wanted a 13 Pro to do that. So, I'll get the 13, and then, at the next natural upgrade point thereafter, I'll move to whatever Pro model is out (by which time there will be USB-C and both Dynamic Island and the Emergency SOS and Satellite stuff will have matured [also, by then, I'll be more comfortable with there being no physical SIM card slot]).

It's also the case that I don't get any sense of joy about upgrading my phone (relative to my other tech). I'm practical about it to the point of it never being fun to shop for and choose a phone and a time to upgrade. I just want it to work and not make me annoyed with how it's working. I don't want to feel like I wish it were better or different. I just want it to do the things.

After 4,5 years I replaced my iPhone 8 with an Iphone 13 mini.

The battery was down to 80% and I wanted something more modern.

Very satisfied with the upgrade.
