I know what you mean. There was so much talk about it revolutionizing media consumption but it hasnt. Yet. Plus i keep checking the app store for new apps and nothing comes out.

It hasn't even been out 45 days yet...

You might have unreasonable expectations. Before it can seriously revolutionize anything, it needs a decent sized installed base. Once they sell several million, there will be more reason for content providers to pay serious attention. What you see now is just "putting their foot in the water" to see how it is.

I haven't gotten bored yet because I bought mine to be primarily an eReader. So I have a ton of books downloaded and it will take me FOREVER to read through them all.

Of course the iPad is going to get boring after awhile. It's a media consumption device and new media isn't being made fast enough to keep up with consumption. Just scan the 500+ channels of a good DirecTV DVR for example. Only a few 2010 productions, with most content being reruns dating back as far as 20 years. Since there is little one can do to be productive with one, the $500+ spent on one stabs at the subconcious guilt triggers and makes one feel exactly like the OP is feeling.

By the way, I do go out and socialize everyday. Some of you seem to imply that 2-3 hours a day on an iPad is too much. I bet many of us spend the same amount of time on tv, internet, computer games, and reading. I just do them all in my iPad.

I'd kill for 2-3 hours a day of free time.

It's a tool

Tools can be boring.

I often look through my toolbox in the garage for thrills. Nothing.

I just bought a pair of needle nose pliers today. Maybe that will be fun.

get the point?

I agree with you but only to some extent. Not all gadgets are equal. For example, nobody gets bored with their phones. That's because we really need them. Then there are gadgets like, say, radio controlled cars. We want them, we buy them, we use them for a while then forget about them. Life will tell which category iPad belongs to (or closer to, the ones I mentioned are probably on the opposite end of the specter).

I totally agree.. I have a ton of my toys like my kayak, bmx bike, motorcycles, roadbikes, girls all of which ive became bored of at some point.. But the things i have yet to grow tired of are my computers, iphone and ipad..

Start checking appshopper. I've see plenty come out.

Some ideas:

1. Download and install GoodReader. You can then get all your important files and documents stored on your iPad and organize them into folders.

2. Download Handbrake and start ripping your DVD collection so as to have all your favorite movies optimized for iPad and ready for viewing at a moment's notice.

3. Similarly, pull all your home video of the family over to digital and use AVCHD Converter to merge scenes and format them for iPad.

4. Get moving on your iTunes Playlists. Build tons of them for every mood and situation. Navigating to Artist or Album isn't the way to go.

5. Learn the joy and convenience of RSS feeds and have your news pushed to you. Set up a Google Reader account, paste in RSS feeds from your favorite newspapers and blogs, then bookmark the Google Reader for Mobile on your iPad.

6. Download an app called AppAdvice which gives great up-to-the-minute information on all things iPad, especially emerging new apps and app reviews.

7. Install Now Playing for iPad, set up your favorite movie theaters and watch some trailers of upcoming releases.

8. Back to GoodReader, if you're into, ahem, "adult" viewing material, password protecting a folder in GoodReader will allow you to carry your favorite videos around and keep them safely away from prying eyes.

Good Info...esp #8:p

When I get bored on my laptop, I fire up Firefox's private browsing and type in *******.com

It's too early for the final judgement on iPad though ;)

Not a -ing toy? Of course not. Wait long enough and someone will post a video of an iPad being used as a dildo though. :D

One thing I like is a shift.

I find myself doing leisure/research surfing on my iPad laying back in comfortable chair, and going to and using my laptop more for serious work.

I find that this division makes both more productive.

To the OP and anyone else bored with their iPad: please send it to me.

Once I become bored with it, I promise to send it back. By the time you get it back, it will be like gettig a new, exciting gadget. Also, I will load lots of apps for you. Works out well for all involved - no one has to be bored!

It was bound to happen. Why wouldn't you eventually get board. It wasn't like you were doing anything entirely new on your iPad, you were just doing it in a different way. It is sort of like taking a new way to work - with new scenery and all. Eventually, it's going to get old.
