...the new one is the exact same design as my old Samsung mp3 player.. what a shame..

Exact: precise, as opposed to approximate. exhibiting or marked by strict, particular, and complete accordance with fact or a standard

Time for a trip to the optometrist.:D

I use the Nano for working out and running. I have no need for video or a larger screen. So the current Nano fits my needs better. It is a little strange how the Nano is all over the design map from generation to generation.

That is the problem! Apple is trying to please everyone with one design instead of making two models for people who workout and play sports and for those who want to put it in their car, and or want to watch the occasional video. They could easily make a sport nano with sweat resistance/bluetooth using the 6th gen form factor and use this new long thin nano for everyone else, and add a camera back in for them and everyone is happy.

No and I've owned practically every nano. I think this design is a mistake, akin to the fat nano. I'm particularly bothered by the UI and white face/pastel color combinations.

The price points suck also.

Agree. The white face is ugly as and the icons look like a cheap Chinese ripoff

I have a 5th gen. I don't need a 7th.

If there had been a 32GB 6th gen, I would have bought it at launch.

All we can hope for is for Apple to bring it back as a shuffle model as they also have clips. It makes sense to have that as a family trait

I'm sensing a pattern.

1G - rectangular
2G - rectangular
3G - square

4G - rectangular
5G - rectangular
6G - square

7G - rectangular
8G - rectangular???
9G - square???

I'm buying several more Nano 6th gens after seeing the new Nano. I like the versatility of the 6th...easily concealed music player/watch/etc.

Some stores I have been to still have lots of demo nanos laying around, but they will not give a fair discount on the price :(

I was able to find several of the 8GB Silver at the Target on Century Boulevard in Los Angeles...but most around here are completely out. The Best Buys are out...I purchased two of the silver (full price though from Target) and 1 of the graphite (refurb from Apple).

I've never purchased refurbs. Are they OK?

Apple gives out a 1 year warranty on refurbs, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about, but they are disappearing fast.

I am really, really upset about this new Nano! I was excited that I would be able to use a nano as a watch with bluetooth capabilites at the gym! Having the controls on my wrist while connected wirelessly to my bluetooth headset is something I was looking forward too, and apple just crushed that dream yesterday. How in the hell am I am going to use this long nano as an easy accessible watch/mp3 player now at the gym? Why does apple ignore the people who workout? Why cant Apple release a sport nano? which is the 6th gen with bluetooth?

No! no way. I liked the size of the Gen 6 Nano and this is a return to the older Gen 5 Nano. It may please those who wanted the old style back but it just pisses off those who like the watch style. My only hope is that Apple will decide to redesign the shuffle line and bring back the watch style as some kind of Shuffle Pro. Otherwise I will just have to pick up a refurbed 6th Gen from the Apple store at a significant discount next year.

Wow....overreaction!

I'm picking one up as soon as they come in!

No, I really like my clip nano! It is perfect for running and this would require me to go back to using an armband.

nope, not a fan of this gen, the original design was way better and more original

I think you need your eyes tested. That Samsung player is _huge_ compared to the new Nano; 1/3rd longer, wider, twice as thick, and three times as heavy. Have a look at this picture for a proper look:

It has some switches on each side, the screen area is a much smaller percentage of the total area, corners are not rounded. Looks totally different. None of the lightness of the new Nano.

There seems to be a huge amount of dishonesty around, with people posting photos that are carefully staged to make Apple products look bad. Like yours, carefully arranged to pretend that there is some similarity, when in reality there is none whatsoever.

And the matching background color with the outer shell reminds me of the lumia 900/920

Anyone know if the new nano added an internal speaker? That would be cool...

I had TWO 6th gens, and they both died FAST. I liked the clip though, but that was crazy unreliable.

Now that iOS is losing podcast support, I guess I have to buy a nano and/or classic again, so...

Wish they'd update the classic with bluetooth, radio, flash instead of the mechanical hard drive...
