I have both... and have always had both.

Same for me. I have a high spec PC which is my main machine with dual screen set-up.

It was just becoming tedious keeping everything in sync between the MacBook and the Mac Mini because I like to have access to all the stuff regardless of which machine I'm on. It was just easier to move to iPads for portability and utilize iCloud and iTunes Match.

Dropbox is a much better solution IMO.

It syncs all my stuff between my main PC & notebooks. I also use Xmarks for cross-platform bookmark syncing.

While Desktops are nice, I find them just to limiting. I can't take a desktop to school or out in public to meet with friends. I'm the kind of person who needs that mobile element of laptops. If I *had* to get a Desktop, I will and I won't be upset with it, because I will probably have a crap-load more power than on a regular laptop of the same price, but I'll still want that ability to be mobile. Just my 2¢
