Those on the 9.7, 10.5 or 12.9 are you now set on what you will buy going forward? I have the 10.5 but think my next ipad could be the 12.9 with cellular due to not needing my macbook pro anymore so think go with the 6.5 iphone X plus and 12.9 would be a better combo.

The 12.9 would be cool sometimes, but I do bring my iPad to places sometimes, and I think it would be a bit too big. The 10.5” size I think is perfect for me.

I've got both 9.7 and 12.9. Personally, don't see much difference between 9.7 and 10.5 - I consider them to be in the same size class. Until we get flexible displays, I think I'll stick to a dual iPad setup.

I’m on the basic 9.7 2017 version and am absolutely happy with what it can do for me. Can’t handle any bigger. 9.7 is the best portable full experience size for me.

I’ve had the 12.9 ever since the 12.9 came out back in 2015. Both the first gen and the 2nd and finally after almost a year of going back and forth on “how nice it would be to have a more portable pad” got a 10.5 this week and couldn’t be happier. If anything, I’m more pissed at myself for not listening to my instincts sooner. When I had the 12.9 I used to have to REALLY justify needing to use it for me to pick it up and use it. Like if I just wanted to google something real quick it was a war with myself like “it’s so big. Do I really wanna take it out now? Is whatever I’m going that important?” And I’d find myself not using it a lot. With my 10.5? I use it even more than my iPhone X

So, what are you doing with your 12.9? Keeping it?

I have the 10.5" because I mainly use my 15" MBP. I'd really like Apple to release the 17" MBP again and if they do I'd move to the 12.9" iPad.

Makes sense to me, anyway.

I have the 10.5 and 12.9. I really like them both and can’t decide which one I like more. I wish that I could because it would be cheaper. Lol.

I love the size of the 12.9 for using at home and recommend it if you are after a MacBook or laptop replacement. I take mine to work some days and have no problem doing so. It does become more of a problem if I want to go shopping or something after work though due to its weight along with my handbag and the rest of its contents.

I love the size of the 10.5 for handheld computing and portability. I find it more convenient to take places and for taking photos of receipts for tax time. I also like the 10.5 for reading books (novels), but the 12.9 for magazines, PDFs and comics. Both are great for the games that I play (more the strategy, find or adventure mostly, rather than having to pick up and hold/rotate as with racing car games).

If I was to go on a trip, I’d like the 10.5 in the plane, but the 12.9 at the destination, the 10.5 for taking photos (don’t judge, I’m just saying it would be my preference of the two), but the 12.5 for journaling, the 10.5 for consuming and the 12.5 for creating or consuming. I enjoy watching video on either and browsing web pages or forums on either.
I do all of these things and more and I like to take an iPad with me everywhere, so I’m still torn and not settled on a size. I think I need help. ;)
I do wonder if an 11.5 iPad might be the sweet spot for me.

Had a 10.5 then 12.9 then 10.5 and now a 2018 9.7, all 4G. The pros were too big and overkill for my uses. Over priced too imo. Sticking with 9.7. Much better to carry around.
Got it new half price off gumtree.

12.9 is too heavy for me to use throughout the day. As it is my 10.5 is still heavier than would be my ideal. If weight weren't an issue then I'd prefer the 12.9

I had two 9.7 devices (4 and 9.7 Pro) and I think I would give the 12.9 a try. That's mainly if I keep this 9.7, too. If I can't then I don't know. I would have to give it a try. I could have bought the 12.9 Pro but I didn't want to risk having issues in that regard so I went for the safe bet - knowing I can't exchange it because I'm in a crappy country.

Having used a 9.7 iPad since day-1 of gen-1, and a 12.9 Pro for over 2 years, I have settled on the 9.7 (2018 iPad). For what iOS currently does (and projected to into the foreseeable future) I don't see the benefit of a larger iPad. Should Apple do something to significantly change iOS, I will reconsider.

Being on a computer all day for work (PC User), I find the 9.7 a good size for me. It fits nicely in my bag along with my Surface Pro. Currently using the 2017 iPad and it suits all my needs. It is my go to device at home, I rarely ever get on an actual computer at home anymore, unless it is something work related that will require a good amount of time. For me it is the perfect size when ordering something from Amazon, looking something up online, and replying to a text message when my iPhone is in the other room. I can also do light work related things on it, like VPN into the office and then using Remote Desktop to check on something. When traveling, I just take it along with my iPhone and I am good to go.

I have had the 12.9” iPad Pro ever since it first came out, updating to version 2 last year to get more storage space. I love the size. I have the use of a 9.7” too, but on that I find the Smart Keyboard too small (I keep on hitting the wrong keys) and the screen too small for some of my usage.

I can see why most people prefer the 9.7/10.5 for portability, but I would not consider changing to the smaller size. The 12.9” is perfect for me, my favourite Apple device ever!

I'm on the new 12.9"
I found that with the 9.7 I would keep trying to use it in landscape, especially for typing and eventually with a bluetooth keyboard, but I still couldn't see enough on the screen. I also do graphics and photo editing which is awesome on the 12.9. Now I'm into drawing with the Pencil and if the screen was 1" longer it would be about 8.5" x 11" and that would be perfect.
Now when I pick up my 9.7 I feel super cramped into a little box.

Have an iPad Air2 9.7" it serves all my needs that I have an iPad for.

Sometimes I’ve been tempted to buy something that I can try out some pen on.
Not necessarily the Apple Pen, seen things that I like more.
Maybe later...when I have time, when I will buy a new iPad.
Can be sooner or later, haven’t decided yet.
If I’ll keep this and put in a new battery. The old one starts to get bad.
Or if I will buy a new one...this fall, this winter...?
I like the 9.7" though...

Just got a 2018 128gb LTE 9.7" iPad last week. Have been using Macs since 1985 and an iPhone since 2009 but this is my first iPad. I originally wanted a Mini 4, but it just made no sense to buy three year old hardware when the new 9.7 only cost $30 more. The Mini size would have been nice to use as a GPS in my car - I may build a custom mount for the 9.7 and there's a spot where it will fit, but it just feels a bit too large.

Anyway, I'm happy with the 9.7 and don't feel a need for the extra size or additional cost of the larger Pro models. I have an iPhone 6s+ and will continue using it in the car.

My thoughts exactly. Since I take my 10.5" with me when I travel, I prefer that size over the 12.9" iPad. If my iPad stayed at my house exclusively, I could see going with the 12.9", but as it stands, I'm completely happy with my 10.5".

I went to the 12.9" in March 2016 to finally replace my iPad 4 from launch 2012. In terms of size and weight, I equated getting the 12.9 that it weighed almost the same as the old iPad 9.7" (0.13 lbs difference) before the Air came out. I love the bigger screen real estate on the 12.9. I like then when I'm using it to review and markup PDFs from work using the Apple Pencil (just notes on timesheets mainly), the screen size is like an actual legal pad. After a year and a half, I also bought a used ASK and the keyboard added more functionality to me that I find myself rarely traveling around with my 2014 13" MacBook Pro anymore.
