Just wondering if purchasing a used GT120 on eBay would be a convenient and reasonably cheap way to have a work around in the future without needing to swap around cards. The GT120 only needs the PCIE slot for power eh?

Yes, I have a GT 120 I use every time those drivers are broken again...

I did this, and then later realized that if you have another Mac, you can do screen sharing to connect to your Mac Pro and install the new nVidia driver. If you have access to another Mac this is way easier than swapping around hardware.

Yet Apple is one of the most successful companies in the world. I would say their priorities are right where they should be.

It depends upon your point of view and you requirements I guess. For 'life' Apple has the best ecosystem and hardware around, for my work I can understand why others call them 'iToys'. I'll keep Apple for my personal stuff, but for work I'm off back to Windows and the flexibility that PC hardware gives me.
