Apple is just as much to blame as I mention in another post, they should have had forced AT&T to keep their offer for at least a year.
They drop it a few weeks later? huh?
To some, unlimited is the only way they would have bought the device.

How, exactly, could Apple "force" AT&T to keep the unlimited plan?

Looks like Apple's role in this was simply promoting AT&T's so-called breakthrough offer. So unless there's info to the contrary, and its highly unlikely there will be any info to the contrary, Apple's role in AT&T's bewildering, hair-trigger decision to dump the unlimited plan seems pretty passive.

Usually when a company makes such an asinine decision like this, it's usually based on the belief that no one can stop them.

The same way Apple is forced to use AT&T for the iPhone until the end of this year.
A little magic piece of paper called the contract.

Hey AT&T, we are going to release a new tech device that will sell like hotcakes.
If you want exclusive cellular rights which could bring other mobile device business with it, you are going to need to keep whatever you are offering for at least a year... kibish???
