hello i got my game about 2 days ago from steam ... but after dld it says i need a internet connection to play :( does someone know a work around ?

"An internet connection is required to play this game. Failed to connect to the Ubisoft master servers. Please verify that your internet connection is functional and try again."

No, the DRM was removed. That is for saves, though it can also be turned off. You should try doing that. Don't confuse the game requiring a connection (which is what the DRM was, and it's now gone) to using Ubisoft's servers to store save games.

The 330M isn't a very good card for gaming – besides, the recommended specs are at least a 4850, or what the old high-end iMac had.

As I said, it runs beautifully for me – about the same as for Windows. I do have above the recommended specs though.

Sounds like you're having a lot of issues unrelated to AC2. The keyboard always works for me. And as I said, the game plays great.

rekhyt: the reason it runs terrible is because you have an integrated GPU. You really need at least a 48xx series card to run the game well with all options high.

I haven't had any problems in any other games, save for perhaps the Felucia mission in Force Unleashed. Never had any problems with my keyboard either.

Other people have had problems with the keyboard not working. Although typically if I wait for a few seconds the keyboard might work again.

Ubisoft said:
Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Technical Support regarding Assassin's Creed 2.

In order to respond to this email, please update this incident by clicking on the "Update Question" Button at the bottom of this page (Please do not create a new incident).

The keyboard doesn't get recognised if there are any applications expecting input (having blinking cursor of any sorts) running in the background; mainly: terminal, mail, browser, word editor, IRC client (even Skype).

Please quit/minimise all your other applications and ensure you launch the game from Finder, and while the game is launching in the background please make sure not to launch/open any other apps

I logged in and all my saves and progress from the PC version were there - love it!

If they do this with Splinter Cell Conviction or any other games I'll buy them too.

Do we dare hope for Beyond Good and Evil HD on the Mac?

Interesting, this was listed as Steamplay very briefly during the sale, but quickly taken down as an "error." Guess it wasn't quite ready then.

Actually, I don't think AC2 uses Cider. You would think, because of the awful system requirements.

I would get this, but I refuse to pay more than $10 for any Ubisoft product because of their DRM. I'll wait for another sale.

Yep... Ubisoft, need we say more...

benthewraith: still strange. I wonder what's going on – I've used several different keyboards and computers and not seen what you're experiencing.

lewdvig: indeed, I'd love to see Conviction available on Steam for OS X.

rekhyt: Haha no wonder I'm confused. :) As far as your system specs… you shouldn't be having issues like you are on low settings, but even under Windows it's recommended that the system have at least an 8800 GT (a high-end desktop GPU at the time compared to a mid-range laptop GPU as the 9600 GT was). Your processor is also under the recommended specs, but that's less important.

You probably don't want to play under Windows, correct? You might try it out to see how it runs anyway, if you can.

According to PCgamer it still validates your install files when you load:

Now the games will no longer pause instantly if a connection is lost, but will still require an internet connection to validate the install every time the game is booted up.

It's very choppy on my MP. It runs like a Cider port. I'll need some convincing that it is not. Like Prince of Persia, the game runs bad and the shadows are all messed up.

I finished the game on my Alienware M15x a couple of months ago (i3-350m and Mobility 5850 which is essentially a 5770) and the game ran very smooth 40-60 fps.

I think I will stick to my windows partition when I want to return to renaissance Italia.

Eh, it's not a big deal. Sure, it would be nice if Ubisoft hadn't taken this path, but they did, and while they've taken a few steps towards fixing their mistake, the game has never been crippled by it.

lewdvig: what GPU? Mine had a 4890 and ran the game great.

Machine is in the sig.

RADEON 5770 everything max, no aa, 1080p

same settings ran great in windows on an Alienware laptop that was weaker.

Wow. Something sounds wrong with your system, because the 5770 is roughly comparable to the 4890 (a little slower, that's all) so you should be getting decent framerates.

The only game ive played on my mac pro that runs like crap is ac2. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, I finished the game before the Mac port. If it works good for the rest of you guys that's cool. It's a really good game.

Been playing the Onlive version for a few months now.

Unfortunately the app version req's are little to steep for my beloved but slightly dated iMac. I have been enjoying the Onlive version which only req's are my fat internet connection. Though not as pretty as the app verison, it runs silky smooth and is priced $10 less. Just an alternative for those of us whose mac's are a little longer in the teeth

I see a lot flack for this game. I saw the gameplay and trailers on youtube for ACII and it does look very cool, but does it run??? hehe

I have a new quad 2.3 Intel, 8 G Ram MPB 17" I bought in March 2011..... is that enough for this silly game or not? Plus it is 37.99 kinda pricy....

thoughts?

You'll be fine. It's 20 bucks on steam.

which grandtheft auto, all are 15usd. Vice - which I have played eons ago, I remember it being fun. GTA SanAntonio and finally GTA III? Are roughly the same of is GTA III the clear winner here?

Lovin' AC II, excellent game... movie-like. The dives and jumps off the buildings gives me a little vertigo! hehe Prince of Persia as good?
