At crossroads

Just for comparison here are some shots from my 6D in low light.

The advantage of a full frame sensor showing there fella as you're pushing the ISO even further in your shots than mine. I'm sure that mine wouldn't hold up as well past 3200. The X100S maybe but not the lowly X100.

Love the Eiffel Tower pic by the way.

It really does shock me and I don't use it that often because I can't believe that it works! Ha

Added another BW image at ISO6400. Take it monochrome and I reckon you have clean shots easily past ISO 12800+ it's crazy because at that point with a sub f/2 lens the camera is seeing better than your own eyes!

Yeah that B&W shot is as clean as you like isn't it. Any noise after that is just going to add character and give it a film look I imagine. Very impressive.

Thanks for all the comments.
I think that I need to go to a shop to try the feel of several cameras. I'm quite tempted by the 6D. While the smaller cameras look quite good, I just wonder whether a DSLR may suit me best, with its optical viewfinder, great low light... Of course, it's heavier and bulkier and more expensive. Maybe the Canon 40mm or other pancake lenses are part of the answer. All in all, I think that the 6D would be a huge leap over my current DSLR, both in technology and image quality. But, is full frame overrated? I only have the 50mm lens that is EF too.

Very nice shots. Besides the obvious excellent performance of the 6D, I like the compositions and mood of your pictures :)

Thanks! Very kind.

Back to OPs question. Is FF overrated? Only you can answer that question. If it has the benefits that you want then that's all that matters.

In terms of EF lenses you might find you have to start from scratch again. If you can afford a kit a 24-105 linked with the 50 you already have would be no bad thing!

That's what I did. Only my 50mm 1.8 lens was EF. Sold my T2i, 30mm 1.4 sigma, 55-250 for the 6d and 24-105. (Actually also got the 70-300 for an additional $200). Pretty much has me covered. The 24-105 is great all arounder.

I am LOVING this 6d
