I am grandfathered in on the original AT&T ipad data plan. It’s been $29 since 2010. I’ve transfered it to every ipad I’ve owned since. It never went up once. I understood that is why they stopped this plan 3 months after the first ipad came out in 2010...because they realized they couldn’t legally raise the price. And why thousands of people like me kept their grandfathered plan all these years. They did find a way to legally throttle heavy data users...but they were never able to raise the price. I also received one of these emails. But i don’t believe it applies to us original grandfathered plan users.
What do you mean it does not apply to the original grandfathered people? And what do you mean they can’t legally raise the price? they just did...
That notification was sent to me specifically about my grandfathered original iPad data plan. Do you have more details on why it may not apply to us?

I have had the original at&t unlimited data plan for the iipad since the very first ipad back in 2010. I dont think at&t or anyone knew how popular they would be. At&t stopped the unlimited data plan for the ipad 3 months later. From what i understand, they didn’t think ahead. The legal jargon in the original agreement didnt protect the company to raise the price. You think they would have raised it by now? Of course they would have. Its been 9 years! They did find a loop hole tho...they were able to throttle those using too much data on their grandfathered unlimited plans. Given the choice btwn throttling and raising prices...they would have raised the price if they could. They couldnt.
It seems like we would get something in return for the increase, like free tethering or at least the ability to use it without changing our TOS on our side.
