I went into the AT&T store today to take advantage of the iPhone 8 buy one get one free promotion. I was surprised to find out that they’re running the promotion for the iPhone X as well.

I had not planned to upgrade to the iPhone X due to there being no compelling reason to choose the X vs the 8, given how I use my phone. However, since the I was able to get basically what amounts to 50% off on the X, I ordered two, and they’re set to arrive around 12/11.

Given that AT&T is doing buy one get one free on the X, I’m guessing that’ll impact iPhone 8 sales quite heavily.

Just wanted to pass the word on in case others were unaware of the promotion. You do have to have UVerse or DIRECTV to take advantage of it, but I already have UVerse, so it made it a no brainer for me.

any promotion for iPhone X?

Buy one get one free. The second one isn’t totally free; according to the paperwork that I received, it’s a $33.34/mo bill credit for 30 months, effectively making it free, but only if you opt for the 64 GB version. In addition, you have to pay sales tax on the full retail price. If the first line is paid off early, or upgraded, the bill credits for the second line cease.

i went to AT&T store today and asked them specifically about this and they said nope nothing on iPhone X!

Wow, this is the best deal out there hands down. I almost wish I was still on ATT, but I guess I save an iPhone X worth of fees yearly as is lol.

i have direct tv! the rep told me they are only offering the deal on iPhone 8 not iPhone X!

I believe your rep was incorrect, because the paperwork that I received with the purchases clearly says iPhone X, Next 30 plan, $33.34 per month bill credit. That appears to be the correct amount for the iPhone X, 64 GB.

I work for AT&T and we definitely do not have the BOGO for the iPhone X. We actually received an article about this on October 26th specifically stating that. And DirecTV & U-Verse is no longer a requirement to do an iPhone 8 BOGO beginning October 27th, although you still have to add a line to get the 'GO", aka free phone.

I would make sure to double check what you were told. But then again, it could be a different promotion for your market. Where do you live?

I received the iPhone X BOGO in San Diego.

Don't you have to add a new line to your account to take advantage of this?

No more direct tv requirement?

The website says you need it

Not seeing this advertised anywhere.

Can see a combo of sales droid not up on which phones are eligible for bogo and dumb sales software where a promo code gets entered but does not verify selected devices are eligible. Or some similar mistake ("if phonename starts with iPhone, mark ok"). Huge dumb mistake, if so, just have a hard time believing this big a loop hole could sneak through.

Ok so this is the catch: iPhone owners, are very needy, they want a new phone. Doing this basically locks you in to a 30 month obligation and the obvious directtv subscription. the catch on this is that I order to get the free iPhone, you have to consistently pay the 30 months to take advantage of the credit. If you decide to pay off the first phone faster because you want a new iPhone let’s say 2018 iPhone, then you will end losing your credit. 30 months = 2 years and 6 months. Unless you’re willing to not buy a new phone within 30 months, you can’t get the full benefits of the free phone credit.

That’s pretty sneaky

Yes, that’s all correct. It’s free, but definitely not without gotchas.

Att is capitalizing on the needy and gotta have it personalities of iPhone owners. Lmao

So let’s say, I buy the bogo this year. In 12 months, the time for the 2018 is coming out, if I buy that phone I would lose the 30 month credit and technically losing 18 month worth of credit. Now I have two phones and the other phone wasn’t actually free. Wow that is actually genius.

It’s an AT&T promotion, not something from a third party.

Talked to store manager and customer service and both said there is no BOGO iPhone X promo.

Well then, if they’re correct, my store clearly made a mistake. I suppose time will fell in about six weeks when the phones arrive; first if two arrive, and if so, what the bill reflects for the NEXT payments for them.

As long as you have paperwork that says you get the BOGO. The problem is you won’t get the first credit for a few months and by then, it’ll be too late to return the phones.
