Read the graph footnote:
differences in score of less than 3 points are not meaningful

Translation:
T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T got the same score

We in the US have bought into the Gillette razor model of cell phones (just like you get a cool handle for next to nothing but pay through the nose for replacement blades, we buy cool phones at a discount up front and pay through the nose for service plans...all carriers, not just AT&T). Until US subscribers stop getting subsidized phones that are locked into contracts and pay full price for pay as you go, there is little incentive for carriers to spend oodles in their networks. When we truly buy the service and not the device, ALL carriers will do their best to deliver a competitively priced and powered service.

Notice that the article didn't bring that up. It's all about wow factor with the media. Truth means nothing.

Actually even if the scores were more different than 3 it wouldn't mean much. It's all about what the indidual user thinks. They gave AT&T a black circle for voice. However, another user might have totally different results. My voice has never been an issue.

my voice and data is HORRIBLE, i regret ever switching from T-Mobile, my EDGE service was much better than AT&T's 3G!

Customer Service

The absolute worst. I have had the iphone for 3 weeks, new customer, replaced one bad phone and charged me, now the replacement needs to be replaced and they want to charge me again. The screen goes black, the screen doesn't rotate, echo in the sound, poor reception, failed calls. If I didn't need the phone to sych with my office, I would throw this right back in their faces.

An absolute disgrace.

well idk much as i have VZW but will be switching over to ATT sometime in the beginnign of Jan but ive been in the ATT store by my house a few times with questions about the iphone and plans etc and the guy helping me couldnt have been any better. he knew what he was talking about and it was a pleasure.

What does any of this have to do with AT&T?

Or are you saying that other carriers offer an unlimited supply of free replacement phones to their customers?

If so, that's news to me.

the overall scores range from 66 to 75 on a 100 point scale. Not exactly a staggering difference or a staggering victory for anyone.

I have had zero issues with AT&T other than their ridiculous pricing for the iPhone plan. Someone should step in and regulate text message and data pricing or at least direct them to spend it on improving their networks. I am all for as little regulation as possible but government must step in if the corporations aren't big enough to ensure they aren't fleecing the consumer. AT&T is flat out ripping off its subscribers.

I have no issue with my service. Great 3G signal wherever I go. I don't really care for any of the carriers in the US so I am pretty much screwed. I will follow the iPhone and not the carrier.

Should have taken it to the Apple store, not AT&T.

Just like those in Europe 'bought into' their cell phone marketing model.

Just because Europe does it doesn't make it right, better or without drawbacks.

Your newbie title says it all...

How many of these are people like my mom, who maybe uses her phone for 30 minutes a mont, and people like me, who have a data plan, texting plan and use it as a primary phone? If you use it more, you're going to be more of a complainer. You will be much more likely to have your day affected by this instead of my mom, who may or may not notice.

Well they are not far off from the other Carriers, Verizon who is basically the same, charges the same exact amount of money. I know T-Mobile is cheaper, but then again you get less with them then you do with AT&T and Verizon. I think some carriers give you the same features for less per month, but the coverage is not nearly the same. I feel I am paying the same exact amount of $ per month for my iPhone on AT&T as my wife pays for her BB Curve on Verizon, we have pretty much the same service an coverage all over our area. AT&T has been good to me whenever I needed their Customer service, so they are 90/100 as where Verizon to me is 70/100

Ya, but I get tired of the apologists.

I live in a house share with 6 iPhones between rommies, GF's coming over etc. I can tell you my roommie with the AT&T Blackberry always has better call quality, reception, etc etc than ALL OF US.

Every Blackberry user seems to have better. Obviously our iPhone multi-media is 10x better, but it is what it is. I don't know why people feel the need to defend Apple on this. They simply aren't great at making phones, they are brilliant with media.

Sorry, it's NOT just AT&T.

Huh? It's statistics. It says "more than 50,000 readers spanning 26 U.S. cities."
It's data, it's statistics. This is not the "opinion" of CR staff.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
