Actually, I think the rep, after seeing all the notes and the troubles I've had, and probably knowing (but not telling) that my situation would never get any better, was forthright and honest in telling me I'd be better off going elsewhere. There were other reps and tier 1 - 3 techs who would out-and-out either lie or blew a lot of smoke saying their network was not the issue. One out of fifteen...yeah good service...

You are absolutely right. I hate AT$T for the poor service and higher cost and especially for throwing those commercials in my face every time I turn around. Now you wouldn't be an AT$T troll paid to go out on forums to defend them now are you? Because you see, I wasn't complaining about them or calling in service calls when I had 3 bars. It was when it dropped to 2 bars and then to barely 1 bar when I really got upset since they really make sure I pay my bill each month. I feel if I'm paying for something under contract, then both sides should abide by it.

And don't get me going on the 2 hour to 24 hour delay on voicemail problems I've been having with them as well.
...

Go to www.youmail.com and set it up with your phone number and then stick it in your favorites so you can fetch your messages. It works great, is fast, even sends you a SMS that you have a voice message if you dont hear the phone ring .
You can also assign messages for different contacts to hear. There are a bunch of them.

Check it out. I dont even use my voicemail on T-Mobile because this one is better, it is free and it is funner. One of my buddies was all giddy because when he called and it went to voicemail it said "Hello Ken"....he asked how it got his name and he wanted to get it on his phone.

Anyways, if you are having voicemail problems getting delayed, get this and your problem will be solved.

I have had T-Mobile for 6 or 7 years. Recently my Daughter got an iPhone on her boyfriends plan and where they live they have a weak signal but she said when she had T-Mobile, she never dropped calls even with one bar but with AT&T her calls get dropped all the time. She has only had AT&T for a month and she already hates them......LOL

But i will say i have a hard time getting a signal on my iPhone at her place. When i get one it is fine but i lose it at times.

Your sig says unlocked iPhone so I'm assuming you're on T-Mobile with it, is this correct? Any misgivings on switching over to them?

And did they make you get a 2 year contract or were you able to go one year? I can live with one year as I want to be flexible to switch in a year if they come out with a killer new phone and go with somebody else other than AT$T.

Its interesting AT&T Would say that! I wonder if the guy that said it could get it trouble for that?

I'm planning on unlocking my iPhone 3G Once I get it (Just a few days now =D) I hope I am successful with getting signal etc!

You can get a one year or two year contract. Just depends on how much you want to pay for a phone. Thats the only difference. At least with upgrades but when i signed up inicially i signed up for one year but that was a while ago. If i were you i wouldnt tell them you have an iPhone( not that they would care), but just get a service plan and get a free phone, or cheap anyways and use the iPhone.

And like i said, ive had T-Mobile for years and i switched from Sprint so no misgivings at all. Sprint sucked.
Their support is also top notch if you ever need them for anything.

Wow.. a rep telling you that can get fired.. if you are an at&t rep (which i use to be before the iphones came out) you would get fired on the spot for something like that.. they are soooo cut throat.. but this is interesting.

Oh please....AT&T, and any other major company, has better things to spend money on than someone to go "troll" on internet message boards and defend the company  Someone's not a paid troll just because they have a different opinion than yours.

/sigh - what torqued me off was the guy/gal was saying I was just using the same old excuse of typical cell carrier whining whereas what I was complaining about was how my network connection had degraded over a time period, which they denied, then admitted they had issues, then denied again when it happened again. Defending is one thing but telling me I'm basically a loser whiner....made me go off. Still, wouldn't surprise me if at$t would do something like that, that's how slimy I think they are.

And really, what do you think my chances are of at$t ever getting my network back to 3 bars, which it was at when I first bought the phone? Exactly.

Hi Seth

What's amazing?

I don't understand this post. You get poor coverage with AT&T so you're going to use another carrier.

Seems like common sense to me. Why did you have to call AT&T a dozen times before you did this? You were waiting for permission or something?

Yeah, I'm a little confused as well, it seems like AT&T did the right thing by telling the OP to get another carrier. I mean, I'm not a fan of AT&T, but at least they didn't string you along so you'd keep paying.

 The anger that comes from these people over the iPhone. If Apple would have never came up with the damn thing, these forums would be a more peaceful place...except for the Apple vs MS threads.

Seriously, I would just leave AT&T and get on whatever provider is best for you. The AT&T iPhone is not worth the turmoil.
