at&t turns on my MMS on 3.1 beta 2...and then turns it off :(

Wow.

Guys. To verify. I am on 3.1b2 with no hacks. I just sent a pic from my MMS to my personal email and it DID go through. I tried sending it to my phone number, but wouldn't go.

Here is the addy that showed up in my email.

9544484974@mms.att.net

That's not my number, so I think it is the closest cell tower's home number?

Anyways, it DOES work this way so far, so don't flame the OP anymore.

Gonna try and send some phone number MMS out now and see if I can get any to work.

Ya. Well 954 is ALL of Broward which is pretty big.

I wonder if ATT is setting things up in their big markets first like ours here in SoFlo?

I don't know anyone else on 3.1b2, so I can't test their number. And when I try to send to my own number, I get the message failure.
 
stevetim, is yours still working?

I just tried going to the viewmymessage.com link pictured below gives me the following error: "Failure encountered during view message."

So it just seems like their whole system is screwed up. I hope I didn't delay MMS for everyone by sending MMS out :eek:
 
My MMS is working fine. Sent MMS to another phone and to my email. Email shows my correct phone number. Replied back and it received it fine on the iPhone. No hacks used. 3.1 beta 2 on 3GS 32GB. It worked fine with Beta 1 as well. :)
 
Yes, unfortunately. Still not working for me as of today. Tried to get some info out of at&t chat, but this is basically all they had to say:

Robin: You are correct that MMS is not available for the iPhone yet.
Robin: However, we are in the testing phase of MMS. I can not say for a fact that this is why you had access to MMS for a short time but it could explain it.

My mms is working in beta 2 but I have carrier file 5.1, did a sim swap with a BB curve to get my MMS working, in 3.1 it would redetect the network and stop my MMS but not in beta 2.
 
wait, so some people are saying that MMS is working if you send an mms message in the messages app to our email instead of a cell number? My mms has never worked for any reason so far in 3.1b2 and i still get the red "!"... How are you all getting mms to work?

Search for the MMS 3gs original thread, at the end there is a carrier file for 5.1 load that in beta 2, and follow the instructions in the beginning of the thread with regards to the sim swap in a MMS capable phone and it should work, that is what I did.

Some people have a hacked carrier file...

The reason I got excited was because I have a standard (No JB or carrier hacks) 3.1b2 phone and MMS started working for a bit last night. I thought at&t was activating accounts in preparation for iPhone 3.1 coming out, but it appears they just screwed up while testing and activated my account only to turn it off shortly thereafter.

ahh i see... well, looks like more getting our hopes up for MMS only to be disappointed again by at&t. :(

Directions here.. The 5.1 carrier enters all the info in for MMS so you don't have to type it, all you have to do is swap out your sim and make sure your plan changes to messaging from iphone text only.

do i have to change my texting plan, or just upload the carrier file, and then put my sim card into another phone and send a few mms and then put it back into my iphone?

You need change your plan, when you have your sim in another phone, it will allow you to change it to the same dollar value plan on ATT except it will say messaging instead of iPhone text only. If you don't do that it won't work. that is the hold up on ATT's side.
