For whatever reason, there appears to be a bug in AT&T's system where it is counting certain messages as roaming. I've been able to confirm this with the majority of iPhone users I know here in Chicago. I called AT&T to check on it I've already racked up about $100 in roaming text messages even though I have an unlimited plan and don't know anyone outside of the US.

Is this happening with anyone else today? The overages show up when logging into the account, selecting "My Current Usage" and then the "Pay-Per-Use" towards the bottom.

Verified. I have 5 Int/Roam SMS messages on my bill. I am also in Pennsylvania, and never left.

The best part is AT&T told me the charges will continue to rack up during the month and I'll have to call when I get my bill to dispute it. Should be fun seeing a $1,000 bill.

I see on my online bill that i have 2 "Text/IM Messaging Mkt SMS Intl Roam."

How can I see what each of these is costing me? If its like 5 cents, it isn't worth my time arguing with AT&T.

No unusual roaming txt charges thus far, and I'm in PA as well. Although I primary use the WhatsApp app for texting purposes.

I don't see a "Pay Per Use" on my account, is it because I have unlimited data/texting/etc.?

I have the same unlimited data/texting/etc plan. "Pay Per Use" shows up for me after I login to my account, click on the words "Current Ussage" and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page. For whatever reason, this usage isn't displayed on the main summary page.

I saw this last night on my account and called AT&T today about it. They guy asked me if I've been near the Canadian border lately (I'm in NJ) or if I've been off in international waters on a boat.

He said that the charge would be .50 cents for each message, but there would be a credit on my next bill.

2 out of 3 of my iphones have charges, called ATT the give you a commitment check date where all charges will be credited and they send you a text. They are aware of the bug.
I also have unlimited text/web on all three.

Just check and I have one on my account. I am in PA. When I click on details, it does not show anything specific to roaming message usage.

"TEXT/IM
MESSAGING
MKT SMS INTL ROAM MO VARIOUS RATES - MK11"

21 of these so far.

Im in Chicago. havent left in months.

Should we call now, or when the cycle is over?

*EDIT*

I just called customer service, and told them about this thread and how i checked on my account. She said, that they are aware of it as of like last night, and its exactly like was stated above. Its some bug. I think its been fixed, so what ever you have now, should be all that you get.

So she opened a case for all 21 of mine to be removed so i dont end up getting charged at all. She said they might do some sort of automatic removal project type thing, but i wanted a case opened anyways.

Was very painless, and almost a pleasure. I will be receiving a text when its taken care of.

I had 123, by the time I called AT&T it was up to 134. Nothing shows in the details. Live in Idaho, not real close Canada.
