All Devices Audio Sharing - limitations?

I’ve been trying to use the new Audio Sharing feature in Beta 8 and can’t get it to work.

I’ve got to the stage where I have 2 sets of AirPods showing as connected in Bluetooth settings

When I click on the Airplay button in Control Center both are listed but only one is ticked. When I click the output changes

Are there any restrictions to which models can use this?
I’ve tried iPhone 7 and iPad Pro 10”

ok. Found the answer, although why it wasn’t available before I posted I don’t know

Both the iPad Pro and the iPhone 7 are “unsupported” for audio sharing.

More disappointed about the iPad than the phone to be honest
