It's not a watch. I wear the watch and before I go to bed, use the mi band. The Apple watch is too big and heavy to be used as a sleep tracker. Maybe that's why no native app has appeared yet?

If Apple released a lightweight band to track sleep only, I would buy one. Maybe something like Beddit? I don't know but a watch shaped device is not the solution. Using the Miband for the first night I didn't have a numb arm and I didn't even have the Apple Watch tight either.

Wow, that's strange. I wear my Watch everyday, even at night when i sleep...no issue on my end. I have SS 42mm with Nike band.

Have been doing some reading on the leading sleep apps for the Watch. There were a lot of comments about complicated setup for AutoSleep. They must have improved the app setup routine a lot. I installed it last week and basically just accepted its default recommendations for a user to wears the watch to bed and it's been tracking sleep data extremely accurately. So - people reading this now or in the future should give AutoSleep a fresh look. (The same applies to all of these apps, since fortunately the developers really seem to be interested in improving their apps.)
 
Using Autosleep for the last few days. Simple to setup and it seems to get the big picture stuff pretty much right. I don't particularly like how it displays the data - it's a bit confusing. I used Sleep Cycle extensively in the past and found that their representation of the data was much more natural, and their detection of my sleep cycles was very accurate (deep vs. light vs. restless vs. awake, etc). I'm having a hard time seeing that in the Autosleep data.

The Watch with accelerometers and the HR data should provide more than enough info to provide very good sleep data.

I haven't tried Sleep Cycle, but have been a nightly AutoSleep user for about 5 months now. Data interpretation takes some getting used to be the sleep tracking itself seems pretty accurate.

I usually charge my watch at night (though it can manage a night without, sometimes two), and so went with a cheapie sleep tracker to capture sleeping hours, which the device does, kinda. Totally out of sync with watch for steps though! It's a useful metric to have

Yeah I just set up my Nike Series 3 today and I went with AutoSleep and HeartWatch based on what I've been reading here.

Super easy to set up.

Yes, auto sleep has seen a lot of improvements and simplifications since it first came out. I love it paired with HeartWatch.

I'd be interested in your thoughts after you've used them for a bit (and others probably would be, too).

You didn't ask me, but I've been using HeartWatch for 2 years and AutoSleep since it came out (maybe a year ago?). I'm willing to answer any specifics, but I find them both perfect for my needs. My only concern with AutoSleep is I occasionally get bugs that cause inaccurate sleep recording.
 
I know this thread is a year old, but those who are using AutoSleep, how has it been a year later? I’ve been using SleepWatch for over a year and wanted to try something else. I currently have an Apple Watch Series 4, and I also use the app HeartWatch. I see that Heart Watch and AutoSleep work together and that’s what I want.

I’m a huge fan of AutoSleep, been using it for well over a year. Tracks sleep perfectly without having to set anything on the Apple Watch.
