I placed my order on the 6th for 256GB Gold. On chat yesterday, they told me they were expected in their warehouse on the 20th. I'll probably follow up on Friday and see what they say.

I saved $84 tax since I also ordered a pencil, 29w charger, and USB-C to lightning cable.

Hogwash. I’ve bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear from B&H over the last decade and they are as reliable as they come. They do not falsely advertise or try to intentionally trick you.

In the case of new products coming in, they do their very best to forecast the arrival date, but they are a reseller and are not a direct part of Apple’s supply chain so they do not know with certainty what will be arriving on what date. So they try their best to estimate it for you.

In this case, I can also confirm what Chris said a couple posts above. I just got off the phone with B&H and they said that they were expecting iPads to arrive today, but they did not come in. He spent some time in the inventory system and then spoke with the wholesale ordering department. Bottom line is they are now saying that it looks like Apple’s supply chain will put iPads in their hands sometime next week, but they cannot say for sure. (This is beyond their control and is up to Apple.) They are not advertising a date now since there is so much uncertainty. It could happen in a day or two. Or it could happen next week. We just have to wait and see.

That’s how it goes with resellers. For those that want more certainty, ordering directly from Apple is and always will be your best option. But for those wanting to save some money, resellers like B&H (and others) are a good option if that is the route you want to take.

So? I've pre ordered a lot at bestbuy and never had any issues and they are an reseller as well. My iPad Pro 10.5 was already processed and ready for pickup on Monday. Always get my stuff on time . Might be because they are bigger but they would run into the same issues .

And they do run into the same issues. Apple decides how to distribute the goods.

Processing. Can't beat that tax-free iPad!

Guy on chat today literally said the 28th and there was no chance it would change so I cancelled my order and ordered from Apple. Now people are getting updates. Thanks B&H...

I haven't seen any updates on mine, but it's good to see that others are moving along. I guess I'll just stick it out. I've always liked to have the new iPad/iPhone/Apple product right at launch, but having to wait a week or two isn't the end of the world I suppose. It is super tempting to just run to an Apple store or Best Buy store and get one now, but the savings are worth sticking with B&H.

I understand the feeling of disappointment, but like I said before, they do not know what is coming until they open the box when it arrives. One just has to be patient and the reward is saving money.

Same boat here. It's tempting to go to the Apple Store, but there is absolutely no reason that I can't wait up up to a couple of weeks. Being patient is putting four $20 bills in my wallet.

B&H is first rate. I've had dozens of camera orders and they are ethical with great pricing. Bought my MBP from them. They even sell combat optics like trijicon. No sales tax!

I ordered a space gray 10.5 on 7 June. Order confirm said availability on 13 June. It was shipped on the 14th and I'll have it on Friday the 16th. Not bad, the $50 I saved in tax went to a smart cover.

Edit: mine was 256 wifi only, maybe some of the other colors or those with 4g/lte are further down the production chain.

Yes, I believe Apple underestimated the high demand for the top-tier devices. Frankly it makes sense... the 512GB premium is +$200, but it's clearly a very strong want / need, at least amongst many MacRumors forum posters ;)

I take it back, I'm going to cancel. I talked to B&H customer service and they said that the iPads wouldn't be in stock until late June and that it may not actually ship/deliver to me until early July. That's a bit too long. I do regret now taking advantage of the $25 Best Buy card as it would have made the cost of the item very similar to the savings offered by B&H. Oh well. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help anyhow :).

PS: I didn't like that B&H charges Paypal customers immediately. If I'm going to have my item sent 3+ weeks after I order, then I don't want to have my funds tied up all that time. They say it's a Paypal policy, but I could swear other companies are able to charge when shipped rather than when ordered. Now I have to wait another 3-4 business days before I can get those funds back.

Can you help the rest of us out by letting us know the specific model you ordered?

Of course, the customer service reps do not really know for sure when specific models are arriving and it is a very fluid situation, but it’s good for us to gather and share intel here in this thread.

I ordered the iPad 10.5" / 256 GB / Space Gray model. I ordered early on 06/09/17. I thought it'd be a good way to save a little, but didn't expect that they'd be backordered so long. I also may have been a little to the party, but I wanted to take advantage of the Paypal Credit "Pay no interest for 6 months" offer. I figured with tax free + 6 months to pay it was a great deal. Good luck everyone! Hope their estimates are off.

I don’t know if you wanted the wifi-only or LTE model, but if you’re looking for the LTE model, at the current moment, B&H has the 10.5, 256 GB, Space Grey, LTE in stock and ready for immediate shipment.

I've been waiting on the 256 GB WiFi models and noticed that abt.com had them in stock and is also tax free for me. I just placed an order with them and will cancel my B&H order as soon as I get shipping confirmation.

Thanks for the heads up, I just did the same. Says it will deliver on the 22nd or 23rd.

I don’t have any experience with abt.com. Are they pretty reputable?

Wow, they have several models in stock. Unfortunately, they do not have the 12.9 Space Grey 512 GB Wifi in stock, but perhaps that will change. As long as they are a super reliable store, I'll order from them in a heartbeat if it comes in stock sooner than B&H.

Abt price-matched the Walmart sale earlier this week for me. $698 shipped for a SG 256 WiFi. It's back-ordered, but waiting a few more days doesn't matter a bit to me. It's just an iPad.
