Update on Dead iPad, Apple Customer Service

For those interested here's a brief summary of my experience with Apple and where my replacement currently stands.

It's been one week now since my iPad died and Apple requested I send the product back to them. After Apple inspected my iPad, they stated that they're going to be sending me a replacement, though they are unwilling to give me any idea as to when they will even be shipping it. Since Apple won't pay for Saturday delivery in Alaska, the soonest I'll have my replacement now is Monday, but something tells me that's even being optimistic.

After reading so much about how great Apple customer service is I honestly expected to have a replacement in my hands within a couple days.

Honestly, you should have demanded that they use expedited Sat delivery. It may not bee too late given the time right now is Friday afternoon. Call Apple's customer service and demand it nicely....be firm, but set the tone that you aren't happy waiting a week+ to get your replacement.

I've had them send me replacements for Sat delivery more than once.

Last night the iPad suddenly lost my routers signal for the first time since I received it on April 30th. After repeated attempts to acquire the signal I deiced to try a soft-restart of the device...and that was the last time it worked. It will power on, but can't get past the Apple logo screen.

iTunes isn't acknowledging it's there when I plug it in (on a iMac and MBP), so there's no way to force a restore upon it. Apple Support had me run the full gamut of tests and recovery methods to no avail. Their assessment is that it's likely hardware failure within the iPad, so I'm eligible for a replacement. Hooray.

Why not go to an Apple store and exchange it you say? Because I live in Alaska. The nearest Apple store is over 2,000 miles from me. So, Apple has dispatched a special package for me to return the iPad in...that should get here in two days. Then I send it back...then...the waiting begins anew.

Let's hope the next one I get lasts a little longer. :(

Good luck. They did this for me bc my ipad was defective. I was told 3 business days and it took just shy of 4 weeks and repeated emails and phone calls. Hopefully you get it soon.
