Does anyone know if the tape can be applied to the outside of the case? And would it still work with the smartcover? I'm just not sure about having the iPad rub against the the tape all the time with it being on the inside.

Yes, you can, but it won't feel good. The tape is not like metal. It's very soft, so I wouldn't worry it rubs the iPad at all. Get one from Bleh5 and try it.

I did this with the Zum case for my iPad 2, and will be doing the same for when my iBlason case comes for the new iPad:

I'm currently looking for a small 1" circle punch to make it look nicer.

Does the EMI absorbing tape interfere with WIFI,4G,bluetooth at all? I'm completely ignorant of EMI anything, so help me wrap my mind around what this tape is doing please?

Need some Tape

Awesome Post!
I just got my I-Blason case and LOVE it. I looked to order the sheet of tape but they are out until 5/12.

What's wrong with this stuff: Click Me

The 3M strips are not magnetic, they are RF shielding strips, made out of some sort of non-magnetic metal. I'm sure the strips from office depot would work but they are probably thicker than the 3M strips and also are magnetic, not sure if that could screw up the iPad over the long haul.

The magnets work with the Belkin Shield air back cover. Not a magnet strip but enough to keep the smart cover in place when holding it.

This thread is a few years old, but I am looking to do this with my case. Where can I get the material for this modification? What is it called? I tried looking for EMI absorbers but I got confused. Not really sure exactly what I am looking for. Do you have a link to somewhere that sells the material? Thank you so much.
