Does anyone know the specific date of the "Back to School" deals? It started on June 15th last year and I was hoping it would be the same this year but didn't announce anything today, which makes me wonder if they are going to do it this year.

Pretty sure they will do it this year too. It was indeed launched June 15th last year, but July 9th two years ago. It doesn’t seem like they have a very consistent an predictable launch date. But I’m not worried.
Also, you probably know it already, but you have access to iPad EDU prices 365 days a year, and the promotion doesn’t lower this price, but it will probably gives you headphones (Beats, AirPods, we don,t know yet).

You are right. Their educational pricing is year-round which is really nice. I am hoping to get a pair of AirPods for free and get an additional discount on AppleCare and some iPad accessories.

You could wait some days
My area got so many of those yesterday that there were multiple stores with in-store pickup available even late in the day... I ended up swapping one of those because my previous one had a weird discoloration along the edge when it heated up. Wait another week or so, our stores seem to restock the 256 GB wifi-only options around Tuesday or WednesdayDarn it! The 12.9" 256GB WIFI-only version is not available for store pick-up.
