Yep get a 11" pro best iPad ever and no back light bleed, i gave up on those iPads for that reason, also white spot on 10.5 and red/majenta on the mini.

You could swap 10 times before you get a good one. If you use it for video in dark you will hate it.

I don't have the financial resources to purchase an alternative ipad. This one's still on contract with EE.

I've been back in touch with Apple who've requested I return the replacement ipad. I've requested that they check any subsequent replacements for backlight bleed issues prior dispatch. Otherwise they're just wasting my time.

lol, they won't do that.

This backlight bleed can be an early indication of other problems with the screen, that potentially result in intermittent non-responsiveness.

I would get it replaced unless you really can’t live without it for that time period.

Not really. It’s a cosmetic issue mostly

Get it replaced under warranty while you're can. It's not fussy, Apple talks perfection and precision and quality in its marketing, its design and most impactingly of all... it's prices. You're not out of your mind for expecting flawless quality in areas like this. It's often what we slate budget PCs for against the likes of the Mac - backlight bleed being a famous sign of 'cheap' budget options. Even the lowest spec iPad is a premium product designed and built with care and to deliver an experience second only to higher / newer models in the range. Don't let this ruin your experience :)

Might I ask why the Apple Store is out of bounds?

Apple are returning the replacement IPad back to me as they couldn't find any backlight bleed issues.
They're suggesting it's a software issue. I mean they're kidding right?
Apparently I may have experienced light bleed issues because of corrupted software from my icloud backup. They've recommended that I set up the pad again, this time without installing the backup.
If I still get light bleed issues without the back up installed, they'll take another look at it.
So this ...

My first and last experience buying from Apple.
Never again.

You need to step it up ask for a supervisor, here we would just threaten our consumer law. It is better than the first one though, this is why i would never buy another iPad even the new air/7th gen for myself anyway, have had a few like that over the years, it wouldn't worry my wife she doesn't watch video and that would only be visable in the dark, you could go through 10 before you get a good one, the 11" doesn't have this problem.

Apple unfortunately are like most big companies it's all about who you get, i have had a iMac screen replaced 2 years out of warranty.
Don't give in yet.

It's arrived back. And came with a covering letter which said it had passed Apple's diagnostics and there were no issues.
So I followed their instructions and set it up this time without any data & apps downloaded from icloud backup.

Did a backlight screen test.

And it's exactly as before. [Excuse what looks like a hair on the screen].

I'll be back on the phone tomorrow.
I'd spoken to a 'senior' customer service advisor yesterday who said she'd send me a link in an email which would give me a direct line to her should I need to speak to someone after the IPad was returned to me and there were still problems.
The link doesn't work.

Did you ever resolve it? I now have the same problem on my screen (actually much worse). Local Apple Store denied the fix and suggested me to buy a new iPad. Seems Apple is running low on cash.
