LMAO the memes keep getting worse. And idk how I never noticed this but there is literally dirt under my selfie camera lense. Idk how but maybe when they did the screen replacement. If I noticed this the apple store would have replaced for the dirt probably

Does this mean now you can go back in store and get this swapped?

Update: the replacement arrived....

Hardly any screen gap nowhere near as bad as the first phone. I can still stick paper into it but that's pretty minimal at best however I did notice the bottom right speaker grill was a tiny tiny bit loose because I noticed it move around a bit horizontally. I tried pressing on it compared to the other speakers and the most right and second most right one moves up and down a bit but they do "bottom out" after a little bit and they seem to stay in place so I'm not too concerned and I'm definitely not going to keep messing with it cause I don't wanna break it

- Hmm it just occurred to me the bottom dust grill is probably all one unit and not separate little circle bits that would explain a lot

also I noticed the top right of the phone has micro scratches on the frame. seems pretty obvious the phone is a referb

as far as i know...iPhones are held together by screws at the bottom.if it clicks that either means a hinge(where the screw holds on to)is broken or the screen isnt straight(bent).

Unfortunately I might just have to wait for the next model to release so I can trade in
That’s what I’m doing with my 13 Pro. And did with my 12 Pro. 12 Pro had a display that couldn’t show black very well. Black showed as a grey and green blotchy mess. If you try to watch a movie that has a night scene the sky would have green mist instead of night sky. It turned any movie into a horror movie. I was past the return period so I just held onto and used the phone since I upgrade annually anyway.

My 13 Pro, well honestly I quit using it after a month because the display gives me headaches. But when I was using it, the camera was slow. It was slow to boot up and had a hard time focusing. My husband’s is fine so I guess it is something with the hardware.

I currently switch between a flawless iPhone 11 and an iPhone SE.

Once I got an iPhone 8 Plus that was put together all wonky. The lightning port didn’t work half the time. There were gaps everywhere. I had a hard time believing Apple made that thing and not some knockoff company. Fortunately I saw all this right away and could return it.

As someone who notices gaps, clicks and all tiny cosmetic imperfections, I'd sell this phone at a loss on ebay or facebook marketplace.

I did an "apple store hike" with iPhone 6 back in the day. Sim card slots were not flush with a lot of units. And then with 6s - screen brightness wasn't uniform, darker at the bottom. Likely because of introduction of 3D touch. Almost all units were like these. Out of 60+ 6s iphones I've seen, only one was "perfect".
With 13 pro it could be multiple batches with gaps like these. It could be one large batch. In both cases finding "the perfect one" would be tough.
If it's a minor thing like this, and Apple will consider it minor, in my opinion (like sim cards and screens with 6 and 6s), they usually fix it in the next gen.
Similar issue is with Seiko dive watches. As of now, Seiko dive watches are famous for having misaligned chapter rings or bezels. I was buying Seiko Turtle recently and visited about 10 different Macy's and independent jewelry stores. And between all of them I was able to locate 1 that was almost perfect with very minor chapter ring misalignment that can be seen when you really focus on it close to you face. And bought it This is why I do not buy online Seiko dive watches. Need to verify alignment in person lol. Apparently those misaligned rings and bezels are within specs for Seiko as is issues mentioned here for iPhone.

Long gone are the days of craftsman ship and quality build. The "machining" argument is not valid when somebody built the robot to build the phone and any poor build quality on any mass-produced device is ultimately a factor of the quality of the machines building it

Quality build is what I expect from Apple premium priced products. Unfortunately the standard seems to be getting lower and lower and the just keep piling everything under “tolerance” and “deal with it lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”

It really annoys me because some would actually have way less imperfections and some would have tons

And funny thing is that those watches were marked Made in Japan. Apparently bezels and chapter rings are misaligned on dive seiko that cost 1k to 5k. But my understanding is that Grand Seiko, which are Holy Grail for me are produced to different standard, beating in quality Rolexes and other luxury brands. But if you are buying seiko that is below 5kl better watch out lol.

Apple's designs are very complicated from a manufacturing view point. The thing is, some imperfections are notorious, but when measured, they fall within industry standards.

The problem is the design sometimes highlights these deviations too much and people, like you, want something to be 100% perfect when that is simply not possible. People make mistakes, so do machines. Get used to it.

I think the lesson to learn from all this is inspect the device straight away after you’ve bought it and if you’re not happy return it and repurchase it rather than trying to keep getting replacements.

Much easier to return and repurchase than try convince them to replace it. It never used to be this difficult to get a replacement but it seems Tim Cook is looking at any means necessary to maximise profit, even at the expense of customer satisfaction. So play them at their own game.

My express replacement got delivered back to apple and it seems they lifted the CC hold and they marked it "repair complete" guess they don't check that hard for damages after all. It seems the best way is express replacement and way easier than the apple store. Even if you crack your screen I might even opt for express replacement because you always get a brand-new phone for only an extra $70. I don't think the replacement used my apple care either

In other news my new iPad 10.2 came, and it has the same gaps as the iPhone except the screen is adhered pretty poorly and in some spots you can see glue leaking over. I checked all 3 iPad in the house and they all have similar screen design. Pretty sad once again from apple but it is what it is.
