Balmer's stupid quote on the iPhone

Is it just me, or is this an insanely stupid statement, especially given the fact the guy runs Microsoft, biggest software company (for now) in the world. Found online.

"Let's face it, the Internet was designed for the PC. The Internet is not designed for the iPhone," Ballmer said. "That's why they've got 75,000 applications -- they're all trying to make the Internet look decent on the iPhone."

And as the head of a large company, he's trying to marginalize the competition. Standard procedure.

Yes, the man is a buffoon, but he didn't get to be the head of M$ for being a clown, don't think he's not intelligent. Other companies are continually to diminish the iPhone. Just look at the recent droid commericals.

I don't take this personally, because, I don't work for apple, apple is a multibillion dollar corporation that can handle itself and personally, I have bigger problems to worry about then some bozo spouting off about the intarweb
 
Lets be honest. Balmer is a complete idiot. If he says something is wrong with the iPhone.. it's something right. Lets just enjoy watching him sink an already bad ship. :D
 
CEOs sometimes say dumb things.

Like that other CEO who claimed that allowing third party native applications would be dangerous... that a single bad one could take down the whole network.

He said that instead, developers should be happy creating web apps. He even suggested that writing crippled apps like that would be "sweet!"

He was almost right. It turned out that his own OS update almost brought down the network.

He's Ballmer.:rolleyes: He spouts nonsense, ever saying that the iPhone was over-priced and would never make it. How far has it gone now.
 
He is right!

It is true that the WWW does display better on my 24" monitor than my 3.5" iphone, but does that mean Apple or Microsoft should build a phone with a 24" screen?
 
I think all of his comments are based out of fear, not fact, because he knows the iPhone rocks. Secretly he wishes MS could be as dynamic and progressive as Apple, I'm sure. What kills me, doesn't he realize that educated people know better? The days of smokescreening are over man.

He didn't "get" any where. He was with Microsoft from the beginning. The man is a crazy idiot.

And that bad ship is Microsoft? Haha...only in your dream world where the only jobs are graphic designers and movie editors would Microsoft go down. You forget, real businesses rely on Microsoft, and this nation relys on real businesses. Mac's are pretty though, I'll give you that.
 
I think he is absolutely right:

The internet was designed for full size computers, not smartphones. Webpages are set up for big monitors, full-size keyboards, and mice. It's always going to be a challenge to interface with on smartphones.

it's too bad they do rely on MS. As a graphic artist who works with many business owners, I can't even begin to add up the cost to my clients from lost productivity due to viruses, machines crashing, data loss, etc. on their windows boxes. I've now come to rely heavily on my iPhone for my own business, including but not limited to communication and Internet tethering when I'm out of the office.

The point is, iPhones and macs work well, and are highly reliable. This has been the case since day one, the same can not be said for MS. This is why the iPhone continues to dominate the smart phone market.

Never underestimate our uncanny bias towards saving a nickel now at the risk of paying a dollar in the future.

Actually the internet was designed for command line interfaces but it has adapted as new hardware has come along.

There aren't many viruses that attack Mac's because there is more valuable information in PC's. If you were a hacker, would you go after businesses and try to steal important information that is valuable? Or would you prefer to hack into someone's Mac and steal all their photographs?

Besides that, the company I have worked for over 2 years now has never had an issue with viruses or computers crashing and losing data. Maybe the problem is the companies your dealing with lack a professional IT team? The solution to that would be to get some qualified individuals running your IT and security team, not switching to a Mac.
 
QFT! :) Mind you... he could he been a bit more sensitive.... :D

Also... getting the entire internet to display properly on whatever device is gonna take a little while....
