Not really big news . I bought a real Mac Pro 5,1 (2010) with a slight boo-boo on it's foot for 500 bucks delivered two days ago on eBay . 5770 and other much more valuable parts under the hood .
 
Back on topic.

At $475 per unit with free shipping this would make a pretty decent system after the standard upgrades. My only concern would be that they are properly packaged for shipping.


Mac Pro = $475
X5680 6 core at 3.33GHz (allow for more RAM) = $200
250GB Samsung 850EVO = $130
RAM = Depends on amount needed

Not a bad deal at all and one can still upgrade the video card, wireless, bluetooth, SATA3, and Blu-ray if they choose to.

Back on the topic, that is quite cheap! For shame we don't get those kind of deals in Europe :(
 
isellimac had a bunch for 515$ free shipping and they have way better customer service and return policy incase anything goes wrong in the first 30 days...i had a relative buy one and it came in very good condition, original box and cleaned!. these looks disgusting in the pictures

The price crash on the Mac Pros has been really surprising. In mid 2013 I purchased a 3,1 refurb for $1000. This year I got a 5,1 for $600 and covered most of the cost of upgrading with the proceeds from the 3,1. I was surprised to see prices crater so quickly considering there was no 7,1 Pro.

It's a great deal for a lot of people now, to be sure.

Yes, really good news for those who like Mac OS and this fantastic, robust hardware and are able to "think different" (to -ly or not to -ly, that is the question) in an independent way. I did the 4,1 hex upgrade two and a half years ago. It was a good deal then. It is an amazing deal now.

I just pulled the trigger on one of these myself.

Now I just have to figure how to go from 6 HDs in my Mac Pro to 5 HDs.

Decisions, decisions.....
 
Mine arrived today. Fantastic packaging, though it was hard foam that crumbled, and now I have little microns of Styrofoam everywhere. Other than that, minor cosmetic blemishes as the ad stated, but overall in exceptional condition, especially for that price.

Mine arrived last night - solidly packed.

I'll spend next Wednesday doing upgrades (LG Electronics 14x Internal BDXL Blu-Ray Burner, Apricorn Velocity Duo SSD Upgrade Kit) and migrating my info from my 1st Gen MacPro to the new one.

Really excited about it.
 
The link in the OP is the same auction I bought mine from. It was very well packed and worked flawlessly out of the box. Got it about 8-9 days ago. Now I'm hot-rodding the **** out of it.

I believe the Mac Pro fans have spoken - function over form. The trash can is so limited and non-upgradeable, that people are actually going back to Westmere MPs to make much, much more out of far less.
 
What's nice about the single processor 2009s is that it has the cpu clamp mechanism on the mainboard unlike the dual cpu models so cpu upgrades are just as easy as the 2010, 2012.
 
Just picked up a stock 4,1 2.66 quad core. Can't believe how cheap these are. I guess a lot of folks must be moving towards the nMP?
