So say the Merom MBP is 2.33GHz with a X1800 GPU w/ 256MB VRAM...I don't know, but I believe this would run Oblivion well at high settings...can anyone please offer their opinion?

well like i said in my previos post, running oblivion on a dual-core (the first generation of intel dual cores) 2.8ghz, 2gb of ddr2 ram and an x1800 with 256mb ddr3 with the highest settings just made game play impossible. not sure about what Merom will do to the game as (i think, correct me if i am wrong) most of the processing is done by the GPU and not the CPU.

Well yeah, but I'm comparing it to the 360 version of the game, which I believe are lower settings...so if I had it on medium-high settings(not everything on high), wouldn't it look better than the 360 and be super smooth as well?

ok, i see where you're going now. let me try to describe the comparison between oblivion on the 360 and on that PC i was telling you about. when oblivion was set to the highest possible settings on the pc, the graphics were nicer than the 360's (my opinion). but like i said, the game play was just impossible. when i reduced the settings on the pc, the only way i could get oblivion to be playable was to have it at the medium settings which i thought wasn't as nice looking as the 360's graphics. even at that setting, things lagged when there were many characters in the area whereas there was little to no lag on the 360 in the same scene. hope this helped.

Don't get the 360 until the rumored Holiday Bundles come out. You should get 6 months XBOX Live, Project Gotham Racing 3, and I think 1500 XBOX Store points.

Thanks for the advice guys...
I really hope Apple comes out with a new MBP soon(before Paris)...I really want(don't need) a laptop for school...I know what you're all thinking, buy it now...but I can't do that knowing that after I buy a brand new MBP it will be updated in a few short weeks...my iMac G5 is okay for what I need right now, but I still want the freedom of portability, not to mention the free printer and Nano...come on Apple...make me love you....
