c2d mbp's batteries usually last 3 hours and maybe a few minutes more on a full charge so your battery is probably okay...the chip on it might not be functioning correctly to report the accurate health though.

Yeah, I think that's what's happening here. I woke my MBP from safe sleep this morning and the batt's saying it only has 4500 mAh available to it.

I'll just watch it over the coming weeks. I plan to get a second batt anyway and in the meantime I'll turn Bluetooth off and measure my uptime on this one.

i use my MBP mainly at home so I just run it off my power plug with the battery detached. I'll run off the battery once in a while during the month.

not sure if this will do anything bad for the computer itself, but i'd been doing it for years with my Dell laptop and it prolonged my battery life for a LONG time and didn't seem to affect the Dell. i'm going to assume it will work the same for the Mac.

any takers?

Have only heard such from two different sources [Apple Genius Bar guy & Apple Care phone guy], but regarding the number of cycles, the MB battery is rated for 600+/-100 cycles; and, even using the battery for just 1 minute or all the way to total discharge counts as a 'cycle'.
