Any updates, did you try any of the suggestions and came any closer to a solution.
I personally got a new phone (15 Pro Max), and it's been better (i.e. forgot to charge the other night, and battery went from 82% > 79% in 5 hours).

I feel like iOS 17.2 or 17.3 has improved this.

(note that every time this DOES occur - and it has come back - I delete and reinstall the native Apple Mail app)

Mad that the Apple Mail app is causing this. Have you digged any deeper into why that is? Of course we all use our devices differently and have different settings and so on, but I there must be more out there having similar issues.

Boy I've tried.

I've removed individual email accounts (i.e. Gmail and Outlook).
Then attempted to see if corporate email (i.e. Exchange/O365) is doing things to drain battery - especially since we have hard rules about max history of one month and found that the Mail app cleans out overnight....

But there's something weird in the Mail app. Can't figure it out.

Good info about the corporate email and the rules.
I would recommend that you log a support-case with your IT dept. There are LOADS of settings and tweaks that can be done from the management software side and there are new settings constantly added to keep up with the devices.

Sometimes these settings create issues and talking from experience its only when users start reporting issues its being looked at. Not sure what your company recommends but Outlook is a better option than Apples mail app if you guys are using Exchange/MS365.
If they enforce using Outlook as the "corporate" mail-client they could prob get rid of the policy settings for the standard mail app and possibly solve the issues you are experience.

There is more to this than ".. with IT department".

But my phone is fine - I isolated and confirmed it was not the culprit, even when it could have been.

We use BlackBerry Work for email/calendar/contacts, so "native Mail" is not the preferred method.

My iPhone 15 with Airplane mode and Do Not Disturb both activated during the night loses about 3% of the battery power within 10 hours. Not a biggie, IMO.
