My release day Xs is currently at 91%. Friend of mine also received shortly after release day still has his at 100%.

90% on my release day XS while my wife is at 100% still. It's within the specified limits.

However, my 7 did go from 100% to 84% one day overnight. The estimate is just that.

How much it degrades depends on usage but a huge factor is heat. Battery chemistry does not like being hot when charging and this can damage the cells. I always topped up my battery (not such a good idea) and I keep it in my pocket so the battery is always at body temprature (also bad). While the wife keeps hers on her desk or in a bag so around 10 degrees lower.

If you've ever done what ive done and left it in a hot car, wrapped up in your clothes in a gym locker while accidentatly running Sat Nav apps that roast the thing then that would damage the cells.

To maximize battery life keep it cool when charging. Dont leave it in the sun, deffinetly not while charging (done that too).

But if you upgrade every year than dont give 2 f's and just use it, your getting rid before it drops too much anyway.

My X I bought on launch day is at 86% now. I mainly use wireless charging every night and occasionally it gets down to 20%.

It it normal to have 89% battery health . I bought the iPhone XS on Launch in 09/18

I am not a heavy user and charge before it hits 20% to full..

what’s you percentage like?

I have a launch iPhone X, (about 2 years old). Still at 95%.

XS Max launch day, 97%. I'm a pretty heavy user but don't let the battery drop too far before charging typically. If I'm traveling I also have a battery pack along.

Charging to 100% is your reason why battery is dying so fast. Max charging to 80% is ideal. Ios 13 will have a feature when it will keep the battery at 80% until the phone determines, based on your charging pattern, to charge to 100% just prior to you being active on the phone. If you keep battery between 40-80%, you will extend life significantly. My X after two years is still at 94% and I'm a heavy user. Don't let it drop below 20% either, both extremes are very bad for lithium batteries.

Ideal vs. actually harmful are somewhat different things. While not charing to 100% can help extend battery life to some degree, it doesn't mean that charing to 100% would actually be noticeably harming it.

Another launch day XS Max with 100% here, though I'm a pretty light user.

I doubt anybody who claims that batteries have to be kept at a certain percentage or not charge prior to or up to a certain point.

Batteries degrade and fade all the time and there is no supporting documents from Apple asking the users to take specific care for any battery type. In fact, percentage isn’t even displaying by default on iOS devices.

95% iPhone X after 21 months approx, pretty reasonable I think, satisfaction with it

XR since launch is still @ 100%. I usually only go down to 60-70% by end of the day and top off every night using on a Qi charger to 100%.

Iphone 11 Pro Max at 89% after one year and one month. Im a heavy user, phone is always on and always run right down before going back on charge again. I've got that setting that stop charge at 80% turned off because my charging habits are a bit weird. You will find that this percentage should drop slower in the second year of usage because although the battery cant get to full, the reduced capacity will naturally help with ageing. Also, iphone batteries are cheap to replace. Not like the screens! I got a replacement for an iphone 7 plus replaced for £10.00, 100% in the settings straight after it was replaced!

My experience is the opposite. My xs max had very little degradation the first year. I’m a heavy user, lots of YouTube streaming and reading. It was 97% 12 months heavy use. After that it dropped pretty quickly to 94, 92, then 89, and 2 years later 87%. At a certain point I stopped caring about degradation so I just fast charge to make up for the poor battery life.
