OP just use your phone.....Its beyond stupid not letting it drop below 50% but then will only charge it up to 80%... Imagine paying over 1k for a phone that you need to baby cause you are worry about battery wear and tear....

Thank you.

First two letters of phone's serial number: GH
First two letters of battery's serial number: F8 (via iMazing)
Battery manufacture date: Y833 (via iMazing)
Phone manufacture date: 1st Oct 2018 (via coconutBattery)
Your phone is from different factory than mine (FK) but the battery is the same (F8) as in both of my phones with weak battery life, even battery manufacturing date is close to mine.
Another X in our family has battery serial starting with F5 and it is just incredible consistent easily going 3 even 4 days between charges while mine needs every two days and even for that it needs to be pretty light use. I have once gotten 3 days between charges but I barely used phone at all then.

Have you yet checked your battery so that you take several iMazing readings in a row?
Do it so that you remove charging plug for 30-60 seconds then plug again and see the reading (you must be ready to click that battery icon as soon as it detects so that it does not get charge cycle starting giving better results than it really is). Then just repeat that procedure and see how much capacity mAh reading fluctuates. In my X it easily give 35mAh difference, for example first reading 2775 but next one 2740. In another X with F5 battery there is only couple mAh fluctuation between readings at the most (usually it just gives the exactly same reading many times in a row - meaning it is very consistent battery).

Can you decode "Y833"?
It means year 2018 week 33, so around mid August.

I’d say the point here is should we really accept battery health dropping fast in phone costing over 1k. In my opinion it should be premium and durable at that price range.

My old iPhone X was replaced under warranty and the replacement unit had a new battery with 100% health. After about ~30 cycles it's already down to 98% in just over a month. Please take a look at the info from coconutBattery below. Is this abnormal or is it because of iOS 12?

I have the exact same issue and in the exactly same conditions new device that got replaced and after 37 charge cycles I'm down to 97% and I've always used the stock charger and wire!!!
Someone help me please $1400 is not that easy to come by and I really don't expect to face so many issues especially due to the high price tag! If someone did find a solution please help us out

I talked to Apple Support; they ran diagnostics and said the battery is fine. I started turning the phone off overnight every 2 days and also decided to charge it only after it goes below 20%.

coconutBattery says the capacity is 99% again but iOS still shows 98% so you got that right.

Have you thought about just charging while sleeping every night?

My last iPhone was still 100% after a year of wireless charging so I have little faith in the battery apps.

I have always charged at night while sleeping and never had any issues with any of my iPhones.

To me it looks like the refurbished batteries are not the same as the original ones. My originally from Apple replaced batterie in my iPhone 6 shows the same behaviour....

that is exactly what i do well for most of the days....is it possible that my phone is faulty cauz it does tend to feel a lil warm just after a few minutes of me using it doing basic stuff like whatsapp or insta or just going through my messages....

I don't think the way you charge or use it really matter much, at least so soon with the new phone.
My personal experiences definitely seems that there are varying quality batteries used in the X model (and probably in XS). For example in my first X the battery deteriorated very quickly and in the replacement (another brand new X, not refurb or warranty replacement M-device) it keeps deteriorating fast. Now after only 34 or 35 charge cycles it has taken again the step down and it barely above 2700mAh (it started around 2770-2780mAh). I have been babying this one with charging it only with 5W adapter and never let battery go down too low (I usually charge it when it goes around 40-50%).
This one and the first X I had both show a lot of variation in mAh and voltage rating when taking consequent readings in short period of time.

Another X we have in our family has about 45 charge cycles and it is still above 2780-2784mAh. It started at the same reading as it is today. And oh boy this one has been abused and battered constantly. It has been let run empty for many many times. Just yesterday I saw it screaming for power. Still it has the capacity of the new battery!

Many say these reading are just estimate and do not mean anything, but I say those are simply wrong.
There is huge difference between how the two phones perform. The better one easily gets 3-4 days between charges while mine need one every 2 days at least, no matter how little I use it. It was like that right out of the box and was the same with my first one, so I definitely know it is not simply just a faulty battery but more like a quality of the battery.

Only difference is that our phones are from the different factory and different battery inside.

In my previous Apple devices batteries were much better quality.
For example in my iPad Air (the old model) after about 3,5 years of use and a lot of charges still had mAh's nearly the same as new one but in my iPad 2018 battery deteriorated 10%!!!!! in just few dozen charge cycles and it show in running times. 2 hours of use is 25-30%, so I would get only under 8 hours of use time. It started so that it could easily run over 10 hours from looking at battery percentage. I never let that run empty either and mostly been babying it like my iPhone.

An estimated capacity of 97% is still fine and doesn't really mean much one way or another. If you get to low 90's fairly soon, that might certainly be an indicator of something, but if that doesn't happen for quite a while (which can very well be the case), then it's likely that things are fine.

I find that both my XS Max and my XR need charging every 2 days. When I say they need charging, I'm still talking about them having 20 - 30% battery life left. I use a charging mat because it prevents any wear on the lightning port.

OK, now battery in my phone shows how bad quality it really is. It just dropped to 2709mAh but when I monitored it while charging, actual charge level never go above 2681mAh, so I think even that number is sugar coated. It used to go to the same level or other way around (current charge level / capacity).

Just some statistics from my phone.
-Out of the box when new 2770mAh
-After first charge 2784mAh
-10 charge cycles 2771mAh
-20 charge cycles 2750mAh
-30 charge cycles 2747mAh
-33 charge cycles 2754mAh
-34 charge cycles 2725mAh
-35 charge cycles 2708mAh

This battery has been babied with charging only 5W adapter and cable and never let it go too down. So obviously how you use it makes no difference and it should not so soon. It is simply crappy battery quality if it degrades in first few dozen charge cycles.

For a comparison other X in our family was out of the box 2784mAh and still today after 44 charge cycles is the same and it has been abuse from the start. Many times run empty and deep discharge and it show absolutely no degradation what so ever.

So I'd say do not complain yourself and charging habits when battery gets weakening when it is still rather new. I'm sure charging habit have some effect later on but that probably shows much later.
