I'm using a 2017 MBP15 with latest Catalina and AlDente 2.2. Wondering if it's normal to have to use the option "Allow Discharge (Beta)"
When I didn't select that, battery didn't go to the level I set (50%).

The setting is in the icon on the menu bar.

Thank you, now I see it. The one who begins using Al Dente should be aware that at first it does not work every bit as described, but it will. That happened to me anyways.

Yes, I think that's normal. Before that setting, if I wanted the battery level to go down, I'd have to physically unplug it. Without that setting, if it's plugged in it simply runs off of that power and lets the battery stay wherever it is (even in that scenario, the battery will discharge gradually, but it might take days or weeks for it to reach the desired level). With that setting on, it runs off of the battery (even if it's plugged in) until the desired level is hit.

i have been disappointed with the maximum battery capacity on my Tesla M3 and MacBook Pro 16”. I have been losing reported capacity on both, about 90% of original. I typically keep my Tesla at 60-80% max SOC except right before a long trip. Both batteries has very low charge cycles, only 7000 miles on Tesla due to WOH for almost 2 years, about 60 charge cycles on the MBP with Apple’s battery optimizer always on. I tried recalibrate got the Tesla battery and MBP, not much difference. I’m thinking of using Aldente, but not sure if it matter much from what I see from my Tesla.

Wait... you can use Al Dente on a Tesla?

No, it has charging limit capability and complete charge by a specific time features built-in. I can set it in the car or remote. Normal daily driving I set the Tesla to charge to less than 80%, before a trip, I would charge it to 90 or 100% right before I leave.

I have installed Al Dente and I'm going to see if it would help with the degradation. It may be actually a calibration issue for both batteries.
