Hi my friends,
my new IPad Pro has a battery health capacity 96.8% right out of the box….
Is this a problem? Hope the statistic is wrong and the number goes up after some recharging…. Never had an IOS device out of the box with such a low percentage…. Every Apple product had more than 100% for me in the past

My new M2 iPad pro have already 96,4% of battery health out of the box with just 1 cycle fully charged according to coconutBattery. Should I be worried? It seems not normal to me.

There comes another thing to my mind…. I’ve heard that hardware manufacturers charge the battery around 80 percent to preserve the battery health because the IPad may rest for a while till someone buys it…. I wonder why my iPad was at 92% out of the box…. It must have been on 100% inside the factory…. Maybe thats why the health is lower?

My iPad Mini arrived with 92% charge.

If I had to guess, I’d say you heard wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gully charged now but still 0 cycles BUT 99,6 health! Is that ok now? Why was it 98,4 yesterday?

There's really no perfectly accurate method to measure battery health as the way batteries work. It can fluctuate as you yourself have observed. I wouldn't be so worried about this, as long as the battery life still performs as advertised.

I think some some are obsessing and looking for problems when there aren’t any. I have a 10 year old iPad Air that still gets acceptable battery life. I don’t use it much since it can’t be updated to any recent ios releases, and it‘s quite slow compared to my newer devices. But on an ipad battery life is not something I’ve ever had to think about.

Stop obsessing and use the damn thing. I have a 5 year old 10.5” IPP with 69% “battery health” which does just fine with most tasks but needs charging more often. I may even do a battery replacement before apple declares it obsolete.

How’s screen-on time? Can you share a screenshot?

OP, don’t worry about that. Battery life is great on iPads, especially when new and on their original iOS versions.

I just swapped out my M2 iPad Pro because the battery never achieved a battery health > 97% after several weeks of using it. My new M2 Pro has a similar problem. Seems like most users are having similar experiences with the iPad battery. My current battery was made on 8.1.22 and both were made by Sunwoda. My iPhone 14 Pro Max over a 2 month period is still showing over 100% battery health. The battery was made by Desay on 9.5.22. I am using a combination of iMazing and Coconut Battery. Seems like the QC on the iPad is not as a good as the iPhone.
