12 Pro Max bought on launch day, 88%.

My wife bought identical phone same time and charges exactly like me and hers is 93%.

Is +-5% within normal limits for virtually identical charging habits and usage?

🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m excited to get the 13 Pro Max!

My launch day 12PM is still 100%. I charge every night on a wireless charger and intermittently through the day my when phone is connected to CarPlay. The life span of battery health is pot luck I guess.

I have tried to use my iPhone 12 mini always in the charge level range 30%-80%. I charge it more often but never above 80%.
I have searched a hardware that cuts the charging process when the battery level reaches around 80%. I could not find anything. That is why I‘ve made a simple electronics board with a microcontroller that observes the charge current and cuts the 5Volt of the USB when around 80% charge level is reached

Time will tell if this helps…

This could be your million dollar idea! For me, Apple’s “Optimized Charging” pretty much doesn’t work at all.

I've had my iPhone 12 Pro since Launch Day and I'm at 89% Battery Health currently. I charge my phone overnight on a MagSafe wireless charger and often have to charge it 1 - 2x during the day, too. For context, my average weekly screen time is about 9 - 10 hours.

$10 Smart plug paired with an automation (from shortcuts app) works great for me… but that looks like a nice set-up too.

+1.. from the screen shots I’ve seen, Apples optimization only seems to lower overnight idle voltage (from 100>80) for ~3hrs.. Not really significant.

4 months old ip12 at 99% I charge to 90% everyday ND end the day with 30% when I go out but if I'm at home mostly Saturday's and Sunday's I charge to 80%

96%, used it between 2-4h/day since end of October I think, using 20W charger most of the time, and it's always plugged when in my car.

I don’t understand the careful manipulation some have advised- unplugging at 96%, not leaving it plugged in once reaching 100%, etc.

The phone manages all of this- it drops the current to a trickle in that last 20% , and once it reaches 100% it stops pulling a current- so it’s perfectly fine to plug in the phone when going to bed and unplug it in the morning.

You will notice that the charging brick is hot when actively charging- but after 100% it gets cold because there is no electricity going through it at that point.

This is how I’ve always charged my phones- my mini is still at 99% health… my previous phones after a year were at 98 to 100% after a full year charging this way.
I do it because I'm in Africa we don't have apple stores or ASP we can't even use the batteries from another iPhone 12 as replacement because apple locks those to the motherboard with a chip on the battery only way to ensure I get upto 2 years I need to micro manage how I charge

Launch day iPhone 12 mini at 100%. I do not charge overnight. Fast charging 20 watt wired. Start the morning 40-60%. Charge for 1 hour while getting ready in the morning. Optimized charging slows to 80% in about 15-30 mins but usually pull it out around 90% as it slows dramatically after 80%. After work it is about 50-60% and hit the 20 watt wired charger for about 15 mins and good at 80% for the rest of the night and overnight. Rinse, repeat.

I used to use a 7.5 watt Belkin wireless pad and 5 watt brick wired overnight for awhile and was painfully slow, but 20 watt wired for 15-30 min bursts every morning and evening seems to be the sweet spot. I have not used a MagSafe charger, so I cannot report on that. I am also a light to moderate user.
