I’m wondering if there will be a firmware update in the near future that will reduce low to medium usage power draw on the Pro/Max.

Looking at the above numbers from other posts, I’m only seeing a couple of watts used by DRAM even when pushed on the RAM. That’s still just noise.

Im wondering if Apple can push the low power mode or usage throttling far, far further than they do now. Can RAM be dynamically clocked and under-volted? Why is the Max using much more power than the Pro when not pushing the GPU? Can large slabs of the GPU be switched off when not in use?

Max has extra memory modules because it has 2x more memory channels compared to Pro. And Pro has 3x more memory channels compared to M1.

Apple already did the best they could. Even in Low Power Mode, the new chips are still faster than M1 at its best.
