Unfortunately, too many sites rely on JavaScript, so disabling it isn't a practical solution for most people. You may want to try JavaScript Blocker to see if it helps. This is the first report I've read about anyone having problems with JavaScript, so it's possible that there's something unique about your configuration that's causing the problem.

GGJ, with all due respect it's clear that there is something wrong with ML when it comes to battery life in some models - probably a buggy running process under Safari or so.

This has NOTHING to do with javascript or the like - Apple needs to fix this.

I did - but if JS worked before ML and doesn't work now, it's clear that the issue is not with JS itself; it's ML.
That hasn't been proven specifically yet. JavaScript turned out to be the culprit in this case. The jury remains out on ML.

From the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section of the Battery FAQ:

Your "time remaining" indication is an ever-changing estimate, based on the current workload of your system. It will fluctuate up and down from minute to minute as your power demands change. It is not perfectly accurate, but only an estimate.

That's wut I been sayin'! They just don't listen - can't learn 'em nuthin. :D

My MBP starts at 9, sometimes 11 hours. I end up with roughly 7 hours and change with a really dim screen. (on snow leopard) Ain't complaining!

I finally upgraded on my MBP Mid 2009 2.53GHz 4GB Ram , my battery was already suffering ( due to age possibly) but it has gotten worse after upgrading Before upgrading it lasted about 3 hours or so , after upgrading 2 hours maybe a little more, Maybe it's time to change the battery , Battery health is 66% according to iStat any recommendations besides shelling out $129 for a battery?

I wouldn't trust or recommend any non-Apple battery, due to the number of problems reported with "knockoff" batteries. Also, there is no assurance that knockoff batteries have the same charging technology that Apple uses, involving the battery, the MagSafe adapter and the Mac's logic board.

I do tend to keep about 30 tabs open in Safari, so it is possible that one of those sites has some bad code that is causing trouble for me. At the same time, it's difficult for me to believe that this is normal behavior, as this is exactly what I had been doing before upgrading to ML (plus, the other weird Safari issues I have had).

Right now, I'm on Glimmerblocker and getting about the same results as with JavaScript Blocker (slightly cooler, slightly longer batter life, about half the CPU usage from Safari Web Content, but overall, not nearly as good as with JScript disabled altogether).

So it's definitely JavaScript-related, though I don't know enough about the way JavaScript is implemented to say whether it's a problem with ML on the 2010 MBP. (Is there a JavaScript engine or something? Could running Webkit Nightly make a difference?) I hope this is something Apple can fix for 10.8.2.

If your battery drain is coming from Safari 6, why not just try a different browser and see if that solves it? (I personally prefer Firefox over Safari.)
